  • So far, lowcostholidays refund work has been slow going for me. I submitted my claim on the Monday after the bankruptcy. I fly mid August and had booked holiday and flights. flight are valid, paid by debit. Hotel room cancelled.
    Guy seemed hopeful on the phone.

    Today I got a letter from Nationwide asking for receipts and evidence- which was all fine until the end;
    "Please note that one of the companies in the Low Cost Travel Group is supported by a financial bond held by the Tourist Administration of the Baleriac Islands. Depending on the type of holiday you booked, we may need to contact you again to ask you to submit a claim under the Bond. We may also need to ask you to contact Low Cost Travel Group directly or to provide further information about your insurance cover. We will write to you as soon as possible if this is required."

    So, my question is "For those that have been refunded, did you have hotel and flight"?
    So are, in other words, HSBC, TSB and Natwest refunding people in the same situation as me - or a slightly different situation?

    Called Amwx and they say the paperwork I was told was sent out wasn't. Called to chase on Tuesday and was told to be patient and allow until Friday. They are claiming from normal dispute for the part I paid through them and also raising a section75 claim for the Bank of Scotland Debit card part. Forms seeingly being sent once again! This is ;ole being on a roundabout.

  • 4 figure sum just received from Halifax for accommodation booked through LCH on a Visa debit card :-) Called and registered chargeback claim on 18th July, didn't have to fill in any paperwork. Extremely relieved, hopefully this is a sign of things to come for everyone else affected, good luck everyone

  • Hi, just wanted to know if anyone has had any success with chargeback with HSBC, filled in the forms they sent me and still have not heard a word. Sent all relevant documentation which was received by them on Tuesday 26/7 and not a Dickie bird as yet, when do you think it would be ok to start chasing them up - its a dreadful ordeal having to speak to their call centre staff whom I unfortunately have great difficulty in understanding most of the time!!! Would like to know what relevance this bonding letter is from caib.es - does this mean that HSBC might say no to chargeback as Low cost were bonded albeit by very little? Any help or answers much appreciated, x
  • I'm not with HSBC but have seen on Facebook a few people have had successful charge back claims !
  • Hi,
    My understanding is to make a claim under section 75 the transaction has to be between the supplier and purchaser and no third party,
    My own situation is, I booked my complete package through lowcost.
    Looking through my confirmation pdf I’ve noticed the hotel confirmation states
    "Lowcostholidays Spain, S.L.U. is acting in its capacity as a retail agent for Lowcostbeds.com AG, who have made your booking with Jumbo for booking ref Jumbo "
    This suggests a third party “jumbo canaries was engaged”, which I’m concerned that Lloyds, who have asked a complete copy with full details of terms and conditions of my booking will refuse section 75.
    Another annoying thing is I can’t use charge back as I booked my holiday back in January, so I’m outside the 100 or so days for this to work!
    I hate lowcost so much!

    Chargeback is 120 days from the date of non delivery. Please read pg62 onwards in this pdf. Best explanation of the process that I've come across so far. Keep yourself armed with the correct info and keep trying...
