Passport was £72 just so you know :)

No one charged me to change it, and the driving licsense is free to :)

    Hi all!

I'm planning on changing my surname using a Deel Poll very soon. There are so many websites to click on through Google alone to get your name changed using a Deed Poll it's got me confused which one to go for!

As a Money Saver obviously i want to go for the cheapest one, but i have no idea if these websites advertising are dodgy or not. Prices range from just a few quid to £20-£30 for the same thing, a Deed Poll. What is the difference between these sites?

Have you ever changed your name using a Deed Poll? What site did you use?

Hi, I changed my name via deed poll when I got divorced, but afterwards realised that I didn't need to and I could have just reverted back to my maiden name. You just need to show your birth certificate if asked. I used a solicitor to change my name, can't remember how much it was as it was years ago. But i'm sure yo can just do this yourself and it costs nothing. You just need the correct words to write and get it witnessed/certified. Someone will hopefully come along and correct me if i'm wrong.
  • I used thelegaldeedservice when i changed mine and my kids names it cost me around £32 for all 3 :)

I used that one for changing my name twice now, and they have been utterly fantastic, not the cheapest but very reliable, easy to contact and quick to send you the relevant documents

It is the official site of a private company called UK Deed Poll Service. There is no 'official site' for deed poll services. Please see http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/9805.htm.

Since these companies don't enroll the deed poll, you are purely paying over the odds for a fancy bit of paper that you can knock up on a word processor in 5 minutes.
