Thrifty the only thing that works for me is Priteze nasal spray. Wasted money on the cheap tablets and do nothing. Sorry can't help with your other problem but I will put the kettle on, make a brew and listen and give out virtual hugs.

Bob you always have to look how far you have come on this DFW journey.
In view of my additional debt added to mine, finding it tough to make my 650 pounds planned payments to be DF by xmas. Not the end of the world if I go past that date as think I need a life as well. Felt so guilty buying a ticket to a BBQ not sure I even want to go now.:(

Fmess - not sure if I congratulated you on getting under 2k. if I didn't apologies and well done. Laughing at you and Bob congratulating me on a date. Is that an achievement hehe:rotfl:probably is at my age:D

Yesterday day off went to sainsbob used 30 vouchers had for surveys bought some clothes in their sale. Not really sure about a maxi dress but not worth petrol taking it back. Will wear it a few times. Spent as well as bought new saucepan and bit of food so 25.00 parted with.

Today SFD up to 9SFD not going to make 20.

Meatballs defrosted for tea, habit as gs usually here Weds but away on holiday - could always have chilli sauce.

Claimed any bit of cash back to try and keep my bank acct out of the red. Quidco and crowdology may run to 11 pounds in total.

Will get a long walk in after work and sort my wardrobe out as struggling with work wear in this heat. Woke up this morning to massive hailstones.

Catch u laters:) keep smiling :):):)

    NSD #8!

Tomorrow won't be a NSD as football is on, but Fri, Sat and Sun should easily be NSDs.

Just checked and 8 NSDs is a new record for me this year!

So even if I don't achieve my target of another 8 NSDs, I will still have achieved a new record.

    Hello,

as yesterday wasn't a SFD anyway I went to Tescimo and bought some more antihistamines after work. Not sure what's going on, nothing seems to work this year (and it's worse than before) and there are days when it feels more like a cold. Anyway...

There are 2 different active ingredients in hayfever tablets - one is Loratadine and the other is Cetirizine Hydrochloride. if you check the amount of each active ingredient in cheap tablets and expensive they are actually all the same but with a price difference of quite a few £'s.

I have had hayfever for quite a few years and what I find is that I have to alternate which one I use - so one year I will use Loratadine and the next year Cetirizine. I take 1 tablet in the morning and also use Beconase spray and this always helps.

Could you try a different variant to see if it helps?
Now I have a dilemma. You know my DH is not MSE or doesn't know I'm here and we find it hard talking money. I'm usually very open, exact number etc. I'm not saying I'm a saint, my budgets can be out too and there are months where I over spend. Now, I knew he is living in his overdraft which I thought to be close to £2000 (been like that since I met him just lower). He left his opened bank statement letter on the dining table and I had a peak this morning :o and his balance is -£2200 with 5 days to go to payday :eek::eek:. I just don't know what to do, it seems to be getting worse but he doesn't seem to make any changes. He says oh once this or that is cheaper (nursery costs etc) I start tackling it and over pay the mortgage. I don't know how to approach it. I know how long it takes me to pay anything off while still saving, or at least if I lost my job I still had a pay check coming in whereas his would just disappear in this black hole. Do I mention that I saw it and that "WE" need to do sth. That it's not fair that I try and scrimp together pennies to pay for the front door, the garden. I'm probably enabling him to not change because I say it'll be fine, I saved money for the door etc. Car tax is coming up  Just a bit lost just now. So our debt is actually 2.2 k higher than in our signature.

    SFD today

    Ooh Thrifty, I feel you pain - have a (((( ))))

I think you are enabling him to continue as he is - while you provide items for the house he does not need to.

I have been here before with my DH, years ago we had a joint bank account and it worked well until he started running up credit cards and the minimum payment would come out of the joint account which to start off with was not much but when the minimum payment starts going up to the hundreds something has to give. DH has depression so he loves spending.

In the end I told him we would move to single accounts and have a joint bill account which is what we did. This worked well for quite a few years until the minimum payments on his debts were nearly all his wages but I still made him pay half into the bill account and half towards everything else.

I am not sure when matters would have come to a head but eventually he got really poorly and I took over the running of his accounts which I still do - on pay day I move all his money to where it needs to be and he has spending money. At the moment his depression is really bad so he keeps buying bits off ebay which he doesn't need and then tells me he needs £400 for new tyres for his truck:mad:

DH and I pay the same amount in to the bills accounts, the same amount into saving for household things, birthdays etc and then we have our own personal savings as well.

Could you suggest to your DH that you both need to save for household things and as a starter you can both put in x amount? Then move on to other things which he should be contributing to?

Has your DH ever done a financial statement? Does he have spare money to reduce his overdraft each month even if only by £50 or £100?

Sorry guys I have been missing in action since 9/7/16 - I am one of the organisers of a large community event (8000 people over a weekend) and in the weeks leading up to the event all my time is taken up with this.

Well the event was last weekend so I am back and raring to go - I have hardly spent anything since 9/7, will check bank accounts and then report back.

Glad to see all the Turtles are still doing well.

I have just totted up my NSDs and today brings me to 5 so another 5 needed by the end of the month!

Food budget is blown but DH is almost cutting out booze for the next 6 weeks to fund his half of the PT so we should see a reduction there.

I have cancelled my colour appointment at the hairdresser and will continue to do it myself instead.

Good deed for the month - I recommended someone I rate highly for a job with my company and they got it! Nothing in it for me but good feelings and thanks but that's more than enough:D

Banking still needs updating and I still have to pay a Q in.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Hugs thrifty that used to be one of the huge issues in my relationship with my ex. I was also an enabler but when I tried not to, he was horrible to me and I always backed down. In the end I had enough. Good luck with getting through it.

Today was another SFD and just one more day at school :j

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Long day again. The heat is pushing back bedtimes by almost 2 hours in DDs case. Bless her. Good job shes cute. New achievement today, crawling to a chair and pulling herself up. Nearly made me have a heart attack when I turned round and saw her there. Yesterday she started clapping when you say clap. Its brilliant to see all these little changes.

Thrifty Do you know what the spending is on? Is it bad decisions on every day items like coffee out, lunch out, a pint after work or is it buying stuff for himself? Can you physically see what the money is going on?
I am very sorry that he isnt supporting you in your goals. Have you found this issue will come to a head after a while before?
It isnt my place to judge your situation especially as I dont know all the facts. But I think I'd be 'suggesting/insisting' that he stops this behaviour PDQ because you are a family not 4 single units and his behaviour is sabataging your future. Very difficult situation but fixable. May call for tough love.

Calling I think going on a date is brave yes. It is hard for anyone to put themselves out there. I'd be terrified. Good for you choosing to have fun as well.

Florence Great work hitting a personal best on NSDs.

Eager Elephant wow that is a huge event, hope you can destress now its all over.

XSpender Good one recommending your friend for a job.

    Keep kicking everyone!

Lillian what a huge pain. How much are you out by?

Only £3 it turns out in the end - the buyer pulled off the address label, found my address underneath and the stamps hadn't been franked so it was just sent back like that meaning he didn't need to use the returns label I'd issued. So now I can send these two to the correct buyer so hopefully they won't instigate a refund :/

A NSD yesterday as was straight to work and straight home again. I need an anniversary card for my parents but am going to raid the card making stash when I get home so hopefully will get another one today.
