So today I am grateful that I have a home, enough food to eat well and a job to pay for all the things we need. Even though things are tight sometimes we can still afford holidays and days out so I am luckier than most. I've just found out I'm personally in the top 2.5% on the Global Rich List, and as a family we're in the top 0.29% which really is food for thought. If you'd like to do the same you can look here: http://www.globalrichlist.net/

Thank you for sharing the link lilian1977. I was only thinking last night when I was driving home how 'rich' I feel in that I don't constantly worry about money any more (believe me I have had many a sleepless night in years gone by), but manage and monitor instead and that having a savings cushion, even if it not massive, gives me real peace of mind.

So I had a look and as a family we are in the top 0.09% which does make you think.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

It really does. We're off on an all-inclusive holiday this Summer which has cost upwards of £3k - ridiculous really and we won't be doing it again!

lilian1977 Thank you for this link. Quite an eyeopener.

SFD number 4 today. Have tandoori chicken marinating in fridge for dinner. While I was preparing the chicken thighs this morning DS (5) watched and we had some interesting and honest conversations about where food comes from. Our kids are fully aware of the fact that we eat the cow in the field and chickens etc. I want to teach them about our food chain but also that we need to treat it with respect etc. DD (2) might be a bit too young to understand. She was singing along to dinner last night: "i'm eating oink oink" mmhhhh???

    See you later

I have never heard of a fuddle either Bob. Sounds fun.:D

Thanks for the commiserations re footie. Still proud of the lads getting so far in a major tournament. I was so stressed out nibbled half a tube of Pringles whilst watching it.

Florence J are you living in North or South Wales? Me and Welsh Kitty live not far away from each other in the North.

How comes some days you just wake up feeling flat, realise that whilst I would like another mini break this year the important debt busting challenge takes priority. Lots of local walks and days out planned instead. Going to take charge of my spending this month, no credit card usage, use up all my food before shopping and trying to eat healthy. Lilian1977 so true don't realise how lucky with what we have got.

Thrifty - jealous your tandoori chicken sounds yummy. However I will put my cooked chicken into a Korma low fat sauce tonight and sure it will be tasty if not home cooked :o

    Todays events.

    CHECK IN

    NSD 4/16

I’ve had a financial shock this week. Looked at positively, I think I will smash my NSD target that I have already reviewed upwards from 12 to 16

I WFH today. A quiet day and I haven’t left the house so no exercise

I ate healthily (veggie thai curry and quinoa)

I decluttered, recycled and binned various items

I plucked my own eyebrows and that saved the cost of getting them threaded. I did a face exfoliate and moisturised.

My tip is W8trose baby bottom butter. After an exfoliate it sinks into your skin and leaves it soft as, well a baby’s bottom I guess.

    Happy Thursday turtles

Thanks lilian, that really did make me think!

Today was a SFD :) I had a training day which was really good and got lovely free food and drinks :) Just done a dog walk and some extra work at home to try and stay afloat at work tomorrow.

Tomorrow should be payday from the marking I've been doing. Does anyone know if builders usually require a deposit? I'm having a lot of work done and not sure if you usually pay a deposit? If not I will pay most of it to the debt and save the rest for the other things I have budgeted for.

Hope you all have a lovely evening.

Nsd #4 for me, and a day of thanking people for being them. Got my appraisal paperwork all finished, which is a good feeling!

I did the link, Lillian, and even with our current income - me working 2 days and dh on jsa - we are in the top 4.09%.

    Evening All

So, so far this month I have over paid the card by £80 but my
S t r e t c h target for the month is to get the debt under £1,000 so I have £170 to go. If the deli meat slicer I have on ebay sells I can do that in one move. After the false start yesterday I just hope I won't get any more time wasters. I have another watcher so fingers crossed.

Had a great meeting first thing which has given me a list of companies to contact. Managed one today but they need some high res images of the place so I need to do that before I can do anything else.

OH worked from home today so this afternoon whilst DD napped I took DS swimming. Its free for under 18s in our borough. So just had to pay for me. We cycled there and back so no spends there.

    Anyway thats me for today.

I made it into the top 30% - go me :j:j:j. I set myself a mini stretch target the other day. I totted up all my available money in the bank/ waiting for work men/ cash withdrawn - my bank is high on the unstable list if they start to fall so have been taking extra cash out as well as trying to change banks again - down to what was in my purse.

I have spent more than I ideally wanted on the house repairs and renovations (I think there is a percentage you are supposed to add on to cover contingencies) and the painting wasn't planned to start until September. Don't want to let the emergency fund/ savings go any lower (joiner and laminate man are covered and there are coins in my piggy banks - £2 cow and a toucan). I had £21.79 in my purse and thought it would be good if I could make that last until the end of the month. Not sure if it will be possible but thinking of it as my only money is helping atm.

Joiner has been. I now have 5 doors (vestibule door was missing when I bought the house in 1982) but he had forgotten that one of them needed the architrave as well (I had it boarded up for a while). That will be done tomorrow. Laminate has arrived but didn't get through to laminate man.

I have finally cleaned all 8 of the remaining spotlight covers for the kitchen and replaced them and the 4 bulbs that had gone - 2 hours plus of hard work but 13 year old light fittings look good for another 13 years now. Tired from being awake since 7 am, so had a nap when the joiner went home.

Aching too much to tackle the wardrobe especially as DS3 has not woken properly yet (he let me have a nap early on as I kept dropping the book I was reading in order to stay awake). Lots of little bits to do but the end is in sight.

Today I am grateful for my little house which has sheltered me for so many years, for workmen who know what they are doing (even if they are a bit forgetful) and for assistants who sweep up after them (another full bin bag) and most of all for hot baths and comfortable beds (a life saver as always).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
