2.2 milion (so far) sign petition calling for 2nd EU referendum.

Up to 2.5 Million now. Yes I understand that this petition may not be debated as it is asking for retrospective legislation. However after the sudden quietness from the Exit Camp who said it would be wonderful (Boris). I wish there had been a bar at which the status quo would change in many countries and parliaments there has to be a 60 to 70% where constitutional issues are at stake. When you take the voting figures less than 650,000 would have to have changed from leave to remain for a different outcome. That I believe that is not enough of a margin for such a momentous decision. Also as I am now hearing from news report and friends and families many voted out just as a protest not expecting leave to win. Parliament could vote this down as legally a referendum is only advisory but this would be after more signs of crisis or inability of the Leave team failing to do anything constructive. I voted Remain as I care about the future of our children and grandchildren.
Tories would be slaughtered at the next and every opportunity if this was even considered as a possibility, it is in their interest to kill this nonsense stone dead, and it is in the interests of democracy as well to make an announcement that the referendum result stands and is not up for debate, then get on with the business of getting the country away from the EZ mess.0 -

I agree, I'm sure that most care deeply. At a minimum i expect that all have strong views on the possibility that said descendents don't end up marrying some kind of foreigner or otherwise non WASP person.FACT.0 -
Maybe they should have Thursday as Referendum Day.
Then every Thursday we can have a new Referendum until everyone is happy.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

That's an understatement. No restriction on who can sign it either. Expect the entire population will have signed it by the end of the week.0 -
I didn't say pro brexiters don't care I said because I care I voted remain. Also the news has been saying younger people are angry at the result. One comment was "the older generation have voted for a future that young people don't want". The world is a connected place and is not the same one that older people recognise but trashing your economy is not the way to deal with it. I am in my 60s and have travelled the world and worked overseas for many years. The world and all different cultures and people are a fascinating mix. Isolating your self only robs you.0

Yes – that struck me when looking at the results for London as compared with England and Wales. Most of the political elite (of any persuasion) seems to be following its own monetary and/or ideological agenda based around London, without having a clue what people in much of the country actually think (or want) or need. Many people are profoundly dissatisfied with this situation. There's a whole swathe of people in the old industrial heartlands, for example, which appears to have been abandoned, with few jobs or prospects. It's probably languishing on taxpayers' benefits – but that is no way to live. Drive and ambition needs to be instilled in British people, of the type that Poles have. Perhaps it is when you have little that you develop drive and the desire to succeed, as well as pride in your work and yourself?
I know several quite bright people (in London), who come from fairly affluent and educated backgrounds, and they have no drive but have been swanning around for years and feel this is the way life should be. I know three such people who have developed psychological problems, which would probably have been masked in previous times because people were simply too busy working to focus on certain personal issues (or simply didn't develop them because they had a purpose in life and were being productive).
According to the BBC:
'The Cabinet Office says it has clear instructions from the British people and new ministers will use the authority of a referendum victory to make change happen in Brussels and at Westminster. If this is a big job, Leave campaigners can point out, it only goes to show how much power lay with the EU.'
I think this is so right. Working out our own economical structures and laws and putting in place the right people to execute them should be done in Britain, not remotely in Brussels – our politicians have grown lazy being so reliant on the EU. Actually, putting in place such people would create new jobs and expertise that Britain has probably to a certain extent lost. It would be a very good thing to have that organised for when (or in case) the EU finally disintegrates…0 -
So You want a referendum ?
Then do it Properly or respect the views of the majority
Find a political party that will apply to re join Europe as a part of their manifesto ...If none will do it then form a single issue party ..perhaps called Not UKIP.
Then get 4 million to vote for them ..and only win one seat due to our first past the post system ..Then get a mainstream party to begrudgingly offer you a referendum at a time of their choosing ..in a format they pick and only the people they wish see as acceptable because they only way they can get elected is with your parties vote ...
Then and only then can you try and reduce the value of the result made in this last referendum by the majority
Perhaps you will now have a little more respect for why so many of us voted out ...we had earned it ..Such bad losers ..so disrespectful of Democracy ,,For the people signing this petition ..You should be ashamed at your behaviour
why would democracy only ever be one vote on one issue at one time?
democracy would be voting again if a reasonable percentage of people want it, if you are so sure of democracy why deny another vote. hell maybe people will vote out again and you will be proven right. but on the other hand it might turn out to be 60/40 this time around to stay in as people will be voting for the topic rather than 101 different reasons like 'i hate Osborne'
my view is the leave side should get a deal in place within 3 months. then the country should go back to the vote and vote on
Should the uk remain as is
Should the uk accept the now known and specific detailed layed out0
