    Dear All
Re: EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum petition
This petition was created at a time (over a month ago) when it was looking unlikely that 'leave' were going to win, with the intention of making it harder for 'remain' to further shackle us to the EU. Due to the result, the petition has been hijacked by the remain campaign. Admittedly, my actions were premature however, my intentions were as stated above. THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE OF A LEAVE VICTORY AT THAT TIME!!! Having said that, if it had not been mine, it would have been orchestrated by someone on the remain campaign. However, since I am associated with the petition and before the press further associate me with it I felt the need to better clarify my position on the issue even if it looks bad. I am it's creator, nothing more! The logistical probability of getting a turnout to be a minimum of 75% and of that, 60% of the vote must be one or the other (leave or remain) is in my opinion next to impossible without a compulsory element to the voting system.
I have been opposed to the bureaucratic and undemocratic nature of the European Union as an institution privately for many years and for all of my political career. I have openly and actively lent my support to both Vote Leave and Grassroots Out campaigns - why would I do this if I wanted to remain in the EU? I am genuinely appalled by the behaviour of some of the remain campaign, how they are conducting themselves post-referendum not just with this petition but generally. The referendum was fairly funded; democratically endorsed, every vote was weighted equally and I believe this was a true reflection of the mood of the country. To my fellow leavers, now doubting their decision please keep the faith, we will be fine just stick with it. I believe what we need to do now for the good of the country; is get behind the will of the British people, unite, issue Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon and move forward, with the process of leaving the European Union.

    Any 2nd referendum = a dictatorship.

A dictatorship is where the biggest bully with the loudest voice shouts until they get their way .....

    ONE vote one chance.

    Democracy.

Like it or lump it, that's what democracy is, going with the greatest number of votes .... and no crying from the sad little losers.

And another doubtful one I suspect, have we really got 2721 scientists in the British Antarctic Territory - during winter?

When I was there, it was about 30-50 over-wintering. Certainly not hoardes... just a boat of scientists across four departments, then some builders and cooks/similar .... and a couple of bosses as they'd go back after their initial 2-year stint in order to complete their latest paper that they'd been back at the office writing for 5 years or so.

Max 50 people at each base I'd have thought. Four bases I think (from memory). They were really just like "a big minibus of blokes at each base + beer and socks"

Summer visitors are a lot more, but nowhere near the thousands still.

Just looked some up, biggest one (Halley) has 14 people that the chef cooks for in winter and 90 in summer.

I'm not sure that democracy is defined as a single one off vote being binding on the electorate forever with no possibility of any future change of stance even if, after the passage of time, it is no longer reflective of public opinion. Public opinion changes over time, sometimes very rapidly, and the politicians we elect to represent us need to respond to that. Even if we leave the EU in about 2 years it doesn't mean that a future government won't be able to take us back in (albeit the terms of re-entry would probably be quite rubbish).

Perhaps we will leave and be desperate to rejoin in the future and end up using the Euro as a condition of reentry, perhaps not. Perhaps we will never even leave. Who knows, the referendum result is not binding and the way forward is uncharted.

We aren't going to be crying. But if the Brextards think they are going to get anything other than complete opposition to their idiocy from now on then they are in for a shock.

You lot are in for a battle.

    Hope you're up to it.

Wow! And how will you direct the battle at those wanting to exit only?

I can't quite comprehend this call for a second referendum?

I thought we lived in a democracy?

People voted and the outcome was decided on that vote.

It may not please everyone but nor do general election results!

If a second referendum is agreed to then it sets a precedent and undermines our democracy, imho.

(Just for the record I didn't vote leave but I accept the decision the majority have made)

I see more and more hysteria surrounding this and quite frankly find it strange..no-one knows what will happen next but mass hysteria, aggression and blaming does not help at all.

Apparently there are more votes from Vatican City (ineligible to vote) than members of their population!

Not to be trusted, those Vaticans. *Every single person* there is an immigrant. What kind of hellhole must it be? Farage should nuke the entire site from orbit, the only way to be sure.
    FACT.
