Presumably, once the proles do as they're told and vote narrowly for Remain, that result would be considered the final and binding one, and we'd never need another?

Pffft. It is what it is. These people need to deal with it.

I have to say I am thrilled that this puts an end - hopefully - to the disgraceful practice of failed third-rate hacks like Neil Kinnock going to Brussels to collect a fat sinecure for life after bombing at the polls. I hope this Brexit result will put an end to that and ensure these useless lecturinbg parasites are forced to get a real job.

Sometimes the establishment needs a good kicking on the backside.

This referendum has given them exactly that thing.

Yes, there will be hard times but I think it is worth it. Change is always painful but change is the only constant which moves forward.

So when an election is called and people don't like the result. There'll now be a petition. Bordering on lunacy....

It was set up by a leave campaigner :)
William Oliver Healey wrote on Facebook: “This petition was created at a time (over a month ago) when it was looking unlikely that 'leave' were going to win, with the intention of making it harder for 'remain' to further shackle us to the EU. Due to the result, the petition has been hijacked by the remain campaign.

Apparently, 39,000 of them were from the Vatican City. Which is interesting on two counts. One, because what has it got to do with them? And two, because the Vatican City only has a population of 800.

Apparently another 70,000 were found to be fake, from the same address I presume.

Although Heseltine has mentioned the possibility of a new referendum, so he has just about lost all credibility.

May be they do but is a referendum of such constitutional ramifications the right place.
The people who kicked the establishment may find themselves being kicked by recession and loss of their jobs.
I hope that the people for example of Sunderland doesn't loose the Nissan plant that was set up because of access to the EU.

Does anyone seriously think if the vote had been remain things would not have changed?
This was a referendum on how things change.. Not on if we want time to stand still

If the result was other way round, the winning remainers would have been smug and would have told moaning leavers "that's how democracy works, idiots - now get lost".

I'm a remainer but haven't signed the petition. As far as I'm concerned I'm going to make the most of it and have already started to implement some life changing plans.

Interesting times ahead but there are some laughs too. Mainly I'm looking forward to free movement continuing as is and finding out what our fee for free trade with the EU will be.

Makes you wonder how some people think. At least the people of the Wirral had the good sense to vote remain as their Vauxhall plant may be under threat (or at least new investment) on withdrawal from EU.
