Makes you wonder how some people think. At least the people of the Wirral had the good sense to vote remain as their Vauxhall plant may be under threat (or at least new investment) on withdrawal from EU.
It's funny how all these corporate threats are turning out to be false, along with loads of other untruths from the remainers - but it seems it's only the vocal remainers who are clutching at straws, pointing at adverts on buses and so on.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Indeed. I can't believe it has been four days already since we voted leave and they haven't dismantled a single factory and shipped it over to Europe.
Btw, FTSE 250 (the less global companies) is taking another large hit today.0 -

Exactly it is going to take time to see what happens companies are already looking at the ramifications for them. If it is the Benign sort of disengagement that Boris has been touting then much might not change. However I am at a loss to see how we can continue to reap the benefits of free trade without paying the price.
Carnival Cruises in Southampton has already announced they are moving their offices with 200 staff to Hamburg on Friday. It could escalate over time as things get clearer. I also understand the resentment to "corporate threats" but these are commercial companies trying to maximise their profits and avoid uncertainty and losses. They employ people not abstract numbers. Unless we change society completely then Utopia is not an option at the moment as much as I would like it.0 -

It would take something significant to facilitate a second referendum, like the EU offering the UK a concession on the free movement of people into the UK. If there was a second referendum on that basis I could see a significant win for remain.

This is likely to be nothing other than people being able to make a home in the UK, on the condition work is set up before arrival, or there are enough funds to support oneself if going into self-employment.
I'm pro-EU, but this would be a move I agree with, if it were to happen.💙💛 💔0 -

The UK now has full employment. Unemployment for more than 12 months is just one percent (the 5% unemployment headline is mostly short term unemployment people unemployed for 1-26 weeks)
So the EU migrants the non EU migrants and the locals all have jobs and it looked likely that job creation would continue to run at very high rates.
Its surprising the stay side hardly mentioned this but then again lots of the leave side simply don't believe it and think most the country is on zero hour min wage jobs0 -

That is exactly what my wife and I were talking about that night, more of a free movement of labour (i.e. to an agreed job) rather than of people (looking for work). The funds to support yourself while looking is an interesting addition to what we were considering.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I'd accept free movement.
For me it was the legislative and democratic supremacy that was my issue. I want us to be able to trade with the rest of the world and the EU ideally, if that means our exporters must comply with EU regulation whilst not having a say on it then so be it. It's not like big business won't be lobbying the EU without us being there so it'll probably change very little not having a seat at the table in that respect.0
