Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

This is maybe in the wrong place but I think Sky subscribers should know.
I was checking my sky account today and for May onwards i will be paying £59 and I am paying £53.50 now so they are raising their prices.
I am on a deal that ends in August so these price rises are the yearly one.
Also to add with Cinema you get Paramount+ but since 20 something January there are now adds on it so to me it becomes unwatchable as there are about 5 adds a show and last up to 2 mins and you can't skip them.
You can upgrade from free to paid Paramount and free but I think that's £6 or 7 extra a month.0 -
Welcome to Sky!
I have ditched Sky and cut my TV bill by 50%. Paramount + (ad-free) as an individual subscriber costs 7.99 but you can cancel at any time then re-subscribe, as you can with Netflix (10.99 ad-free).
Yes, I do miss the Sky interface, but I don't miss the cost which would have gone up to over £600 p.a. (Signature, movies, HD, netflix).0 -

I mainly just have Signature (I also currently have the HD pack, but that's on a free deal for 4 months which I will give 31 days notice on a month before it starts charging - this has worked multiple times via the My Sky app)
For signature I was paying £18.50/month = £36.50 list price - £18 discount.
From April onwards the list price just for Signature is going up to £40.50 so less £18 discount that's £22.50.
So effectively a 21% increase on the net price!
I'm in a minimum contract period until October, but I don't think I will renew at that price when it ends, as most of the TV we watch is FTA or streaming services.
P.S. It looks like the HD pack is staying at £9/month.

Not sure if I should rock the boat , I have a additional £5 discount on my account that should of ended in November, I took out the free Netflix trial when I renegotiated my deal , I don't need Netflix but it's basically free , if I contact them they could take away the extra £5 discount , is it worth keeping Netflix or getting it took off at the risk of loosing the extra £5 discount , checked future bills and the discount is still showing1

Looking at mine, Boost to Netflix Standard has gone up 49p from April, and Sky Sports has gone up £1, but everything else, including Signature, is still showing the same price as March.
I'm not sure they've updated everything yet.0 -
Here is what they want to charge me for TV (HD, sport + second box)I've been a customer for 23 years
"You’re now on a monthly rolling contract for your Sky TV services.
We can help you save money when you renew your contract on a new fixed term basis with our exclusive 24 month offer."
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
I am so glad I’m now free of greedy Sky…====0

lots of cycling fans will be disappointed with the news that Eurosport will be disappearing next month. I have heard it will move to TNT. I watch all my cycling on catchup so a recording function is essential. How much am I looking at for TNT sport and is there another way to watch/record cycling without streaming?
ThanksI’d argue Discovery+ is technologically one of the best streaming providers available.0 -
It would appear MSE is now on the case with Sky - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2025/02/sky-tv-price-rise-rights-explained/
As I’ve pointed out over on AV Forums, there’s an interesting line in that article that would presumably apply to anyone re-subbing from now onwards: Your monthly price may rise during your minimum term – though not in the first 60 days.
So, assuming Sky put their annual prices up at the end of March/first week of April, they can’t apply an increase to anyone re-subscribing now?0 -

If you go to https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-terms-and-conditions you can find the Ts&Cs for the various types of Sky TV, e.g. under "Sky TV terms and conditions" if you click the ⌄ next to "Sky Q box customer" you can see the link to download the Sky Q Terms and Conditions pdf.
In that document their is a section about "Price Protection":11.7. During the minimum term, unless it is for a reason set out in condition 11.8 below (where the following increase limits do not apply), we may increase the then standard price of each TV subscription service only once in any 12 month period and the increase will not be more than 10% or the increase in the UK Retail Price Index over the 12 months before we tell you about that price increase, whichever is greater. In addition, any price increase for a TV subscription service will be delayed so as not to apply during the first 60 days of your minimum term in which case the 12 month period referred to will start on the date your price would have increased but for the delay. The limits on the timing, frequency and amount of any price increase in this condition are referred to as “price protection”.
