Alpha_5 said:Started the dance today. 31 days notice gone in. I only have TV.The agent said they could switch off my package immediately and refund the rest of this month's charges to save me money. I was wary of doing that though as, even though I'm outside of the minimum term, it seems to be against the T&Cs and I might have been charged anyway?
From looking in future bills, it appears that my existing discounts (not due to expire until next year) have been removed as of my next bill date, so I'll have a few days paying full price before the end of the 31 days - is that normal?0 -
Towers76 said:The world has gone mad. My Sky contract ended two days ago - I only realised when I saw the increase in my direct debit from £86 to £100. I got Signature, Sports, Cinema, Multiscreen and Netflix plus HD. I called 0344 241 4141 to say I wasn't happy at the lack of notice re the contract end and the increase in my ddr (I'm pretty sure that they're supposed to give 10 days notice of any change in amount under the direct debit scheme) and could we agree a new contract. Upshot is I'm on a rolling contract for 12 months and they're not able to offer me a contract and the best they could do was to reduce the monthly amount to £99. I quoted some of the deals that my "friends" had received (from this forum but without mentioning it) of circa £70/75 and it got me nowhere. Every previous occasion that i have renegotiated it has always been very straightforward, easy in fact... not this time. They did offer to reduce my rolling contract to £92 in June 25... What use it that. 30 years + as a customer and they're basically telling me to take or or leave. From reading this forum their tactics seems to vary with most being offered deals but some not which is odd but has anyone got any advice other than cancel? Plus anyone else stuck on a rolling contract?0

Sky bill gone up to £28 for signature so have now cancelled, SKY seem very difficult to negotiate with this year, obviously feeling the pinch from their massive football contracts! Struggle to see why the premium price for Sky Signature when it’s a glorified freeview service really!0

I've just settled with Sky - not as good as I was aiming for ,but equivalent to ~ 40% discount. Got to the final haggle before cancellation and decided life was too short - and the World Cup cricket is on !0

Peppa537 said:@Jamesdeer001 You can get that package for a lot less than that. You need to give cancellation notice though, if you haven't already or you won't get anything worth taking. You have 31 days before it switches off but then wait for them to come to you. Don't accept the first offer unless it's great (it won't be). The best deals are now offered after it's completely switched off, this is when I suggest you contact them but there's no guarantee you'll get one. However if all you have is Signature and Netflix, and you don't watch many Sky only channels, my advice is to completely ditch them. So much is available online now from fta apps. I did and don't miss Sky but I'm aware everyone is different. Only take a deal you're 100% happy with and remember to factor in the annual price increases. There are also phone numbers available online if you search you can call, they are on the Sky website, as well as a live chat link. Once you've put in cancellation notice though, and if your contact permissions in your Sky account are set to on, you will get sent offers with a contact link/details.
Just wanted to post a follow-up on this. To confirm I had Signature, HD and Netlfix w/o adds. I started my 31 day cancellation period last Thursday. My wife confirmed she was keen to keep sky q and not move to sky stream.
So I contacted them again today and was put through to a "special" team as I was in my cancellation period.
Previously my best offer before cancelling was £40 + £10 admin fee
First offer was £35 + £10 admin fee.
I asked if they could waive the admin fee.
He came back with £33 + £10 admin fee. I accepted and while he was putting it through he waived the admin fee and reduced netflix by £1. So total is
Signature £18.50
HD £4
Netlfix w/o add £9.50
£32 in total for 18 months and £0 admin fee. To confirm I accepted this. My target price had been £30 but was prepared for £35 so a decent result. I initiated today's chat and I probably could've waited until cancellation had gone through to get a slightly better price but that is also offset by the new price kicking in today.

Spent 45 mins on the phone with a nice Irish bloke called Colin (Retentions dept)
Apparently if you remove Multiscreen you lose Sky Go completely - didn’t realise this was now a thing. Live chat advisor says otherwise - that I have to cancel MS then ring them back to get Sky Go. Will enquire further about that. Ended up ditching Netflix through them (moving to EE so will get it through them instead) ended up with this for £52.50
Signature - £25.50
Multiscreen - £7
Sports - £12
Sports HD - £2
HD - £6
Advisor mentioned holding out for UHD offers through sky vip app otherwise it’s extra £4 on top. Also got told that if I cancel HD I will lose all HD recordings so kept it for now. I've been using live chat/ringing a lot over the last few weeks and it seems it is much more harder to get a deal out of them then in previous years. I could've waited till Friday as thats when offers are refreshed but didn't want to drag the process out further.
