@Max68 I know Sky offer viewing and recording of freesat channels on their Q box, they call it Essentials and normal price for this is £15 a month, although some have had it for as little as £5. I'm not sure if Sky would let you pay to record on the older HD box as that isn't the one you've currently been using. If you could get Essentials on Q for £5 that's cheaper than getting the lnb changed.
Thank you that's an idea. Just feel my viewing habits have changed. I watch a lot of stuff on  you tube and netflix and with series on terrestrial I record whole series and binge watch when they have ended. Not even sure what sky channels are on signature to be honest. I don't watch much sky 1 or Atlantic anymore. Sports I only watch my own team so that's maybe 6 times a year. Same with TNT sports I got roped into that like an idiot so am in contract with Bt to the tune of 22 quid a month for maybe ten games a year. Cinema as well doesn't have as many new releases as it used to. So Essentials may be an idea just to keep the box . Heard you had to an on benefits or something though to got essentials although might be wrong.

You don't have to be on benefits to get their TV Essentials, there is a basic BB deal (I'm not sure what this is called) through suppliers for those that are vulnerable/on benefits. I know some people who have it, although to get for £5 you have to negotiate and possibly let your service switch off for a while. Like you we hardly watch any Sky only channels, cancelled Sports and Cinema at the end of 2022 and don't miss it. We have season tickets for our football team so go and watch all their home games, plenty of films on Netflix and fta catch up services. I even cast from my phone to the TV to watch some things so apart from recording occasionally a Sky box isn't needed or worth the cost they charge anymore. Mine is being switched off beginning of April.

Thanks to Peppa537 for their advice.  Contacted Sky for info on Sky Essentials and in case it might help someone here is the conversation.

  • After the usual dance and just a few days remaining till cancellation, Sky have given me the exclusive offer of £137.50 plus £20 admin fee to keep my current package (Signature, Sports, Movies, TNT, phone, broadband).
After 19 years of Sky, it’s time to move on. Virgin being installed in the next few days (saving £40 a month on Sky offer for similar package but including faster broadband, unlimited O2 sim and Netflix).
I’d have rather remained with Sky but they have priced me out of the market☹️
  • Thought I'd post my latest deal here following some calls from Sky to add additional services.

So in October, I negotiated Sky Signature, Ultimate TV Add On, Sky HD and Sky UHD for £31 a month (18 month contract). According to the bills, an overall discount of £21.

Then I had a call from Sky about two offers that were exclusive to me as someone on the Premium VIP tier:
    • Sky Cinema free for one month, and then £6 for another 3 months (rolling contract)
    • Sky Multiscreen for £5 a month, free minibox (worth £50) on an 18 month contract
Didn't want to take it there and then, as it needed discussion with my other half. I said can I call you back and was told no, and they have to call me, but couldn't guarantee that they offer would still be available (I get it - commission). Was told they would call me back on Friday - it didn't happen.

In the meantime, I'm inundated with Facebook/Instagram ads for the same multiscreen offer - not quite as exclusive as it was made out to be. So decided to call them up and was put through to a guy who couldn't see any Cinema offers but he could offer me multiscreen for £8 a month. I pointed out what I had seen online and he said that's not possible. So I actually ordered it whilst on the phone and he was astonished as it was added to my account.

Not satisfied with the answer to my Cinema offer, I started a text message conversation with someone. They offered me Cinema for £13 a month on an 18 month contract. I pointed out, this isn't anywhere near as good as the original offer and indeed, the MySky app is offering it to me for £10 a month!

He put me through to another person, who said the original offer was no longer available, but she could offer me Cinema for £6 a month for 12 months on a rolling monthly contract - so actually better than the original offer.

I mean I'm happy, but a lot of unnecessary faff to get to there. So for the next 12 months I'm paying a maximum of  £42.50 with £43.50 worth of discounts.

  • Hello,

I was previously paying £117 for Sky's ultimate package (Movies, Cinema, Multiscreen, Netflix Premium, 1GBPS Broadband etc) 1 x Sky Q and 2 x Multiroom Boxes.

We decided we'd not renew sky and set the policy to cancel 2-3 months ago.

I took out a broadband contract with OneStream, set to start when our broadband ended (1GBPS Fiber) for £35 a month, over 12 months

As of last Friday, our TV contract officially ended and I received the packaging to return our sky boxes.

I decided to give sky a call this morning, they offered the following including the upcoming price rise %.

Certainly no where near the best deal.

I was advised that they could of added Cinema for £7 but I did not take it up. We probably used Cinema twice throughout our 18 month contract. It was just a "nice to have".

The plan is to call back near the end of the cool off period and try to haggle the price more (this has worked the last two times I've done it).

Failing that, will just to let contract end again and look at other options!

That's over 50% discount - pretty good compared with most offers I've seen lately !!

@Dealtro         That's a pretty good deal to be fair.  I have Signature, Sports, Cinema, Netflix, HD at £55 at the moment and best they have offered so far is £78 for the same.  I'd probably take it if they offered me my package for £60.

Any reason why you have both HD and Ultra HD?  I've only ever had HD so not sure if some channels only have HD and others UHD?

By the way, anyone else bizarrely getting stuck with the ROI site when logging into Sky from Edge Browser?  The flag at the bottom won't change to UK for me and is stuck on Ireland.  Everything is fine if I log in via Chrome.  Strange, only started today.
