Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

bit of a strange one, but the future bills in the mysky app are now updated and they've given me the package for £74 instead of £76, the individual prices for some parts of the package are different to what I was quoted and they've added skysports HD for £2, might see if I can get them to knock that £2 off as sky sports already comes in HD as standard but happy enough with £74, good luck to everyone else trying to get reductions

I’d assume that it’s just a quirk of their billing system. I personally would leave it, you’re already £2pm better off.. never seen it as low as £14 for sports and cinema. You done wellFUrake said:bit of a strange one, but the future bills in the mysky app are now updated and they've given me the package for £74 instead of £76, the individual prices for some parts of the package are different to what I was quoted and they've added skysports HD for £2, might see if I can get them to knock that £2 off as sky sports already comes in HD as standard but happy enough with £74, good luck to everyone else trying to get reductions

They seem to make it up as they go - I'm paying £17pm for Sports in HD but they tried to persuade me to add Cinema at £5pm about 6 months in to the current deal.PZ19 said:

The separate £2 for Sports HD is a quirk of the billing system. The price is the same total as you were quoted for the sports (and is a very good deal) so definitely don't query it!!FUrake said:bit of a strange one, but the future bills in the mysky app are now updated and they've given me the package for £74 instead of £76, the individual prices for some parts of the package are different to what I was quoted and they've added skysports HD for £2, might see if I can get them to knock that £2 off as sky sports already comes in HD as standard but happy enough with £74, good luck to everyone else trying to get reductions

Got a new deal today.
- Sky signature £19.50 (discounted from £27.50)
- Sky HD £7 (discounted from £8)
- Superfast Broadband £23.50 (discounted from £35.50)
This works out at £50 per month for 18 months.0 -
I was shocked and appalled to spot the latest Sky charge on my credit card of £135 per month. Contract had run out without me realising it, and costs gone up from the previous £85. I have called them a couple of times saying there is no ******* way I am paying anything like that much, and the best they have offered is a frankly very unappealing £103 pm.
Is the best strategy to keep "begging", or just tell them to *** off and cancel? I cannot justify paying £103 pm but I have to admit the convenience of Sky Q and wireless multiroom, is appealing. All other options would be massively less convenient, but not £103 less!0 -
@Ron_Weasley - just put in cancellation - after all ,you have the 31 days notice period before it is switched off; and even then ,if you miss it too much ,it can be reconnected in a matter of minutes0

Ron, what you have to do is phone them on 0333 202 2135 and ask to be put through to the retentions department then tell them you need to cancel as its now too expensive for you, once you're in the 31 day cancellation period you will find you get bigger discount, it might take a few weeks but you will get bigger discount, if you see my posts on the previous page, it took me roughly 3 weeks of being in the cancellation period before being offered an acceptable discountRon_Weasley said:I was shocked and appalled to spot the latest Sky charge on my credit card of £135 per month. edit - I forgot to say, never accept their first offer0 -
I think it depends on your luck - I got a call from them the day after I cancelled, and it was an amazing offer about 50% off, so I bit their hands off haha0

True - there is a lot of luck in dealing with Sky - the time before last ,when my contract was running out, I went on Chat to give notice and ,altho' it took a while , the agent got my price for a recontract BELOW what I had been paying for the previous 18 months !!0
