Volt 125 would mean being billed as 50 - not sure what the going rate would be for this as they no longer seem to offer it to new customers. If Volt 250 is low 20s, then the current offer would seem in line. I’m a bit wary of clicking anything in the account area in case it doesn’t do what the headline says. Almost got charged for what should have been a free box upgrade once. Other forumites have also accepted an automated discount over the phone only for it to remove other active discounts.
Ahh, I took it as a straight 125 plus volt taking it up to 250+

Can't say I've ever seen less than the 125Mbps speed from them although I'm fairly new to VM.

I was offered around £44 for Bigger Combo Volt when I reached the end of my contract. It was going up from £32 to £106 😱. I declined. Cancellations offered £72 (so a worse deal than was showing in my online account before I cancelled).

We cancelled and another family member rejoined on a new Bigger Combo Volt 362Mb contract via TopCashback for £44.99. They cancelled the £10 O2 sim within cooling off, which didn't affect Volt speed upgrade, bringing the monthly payment down to £34.99 (Mega TV/362Mb bb/landline including weekend calls). After £184 TopCashback (hopefully it pays out!) it should work out at £24.76 per month equivalent.

How long did you have to wait before this was offered to you?

I went on online chat a week after putting in my notice and said I'm just about to push the button and order my new supplier what's the best you can do and they said that was there best so I was more than happy to accept. They also added an £11 credit per month for 3 months as an extra that wasnt even mentioned until I got the new contract through :)

Received my renewal for M350 broadband (M250 with Volt) + phone line which was £20pm going to £62pm.
Rang up cancellations and the agent offered it for £22pm. I said i wanted to keep the price the same.
    The agent said there's a £2 discount available so it'll be £20pm.
    I accepted this as
I'm happy with the price and it means i didn't need to go through the hassle of putting in the 30 day cancellation and waiting for a call back etc.

Or 125M BB + weekend chatter was going up to £48 from £32. Got thru to retentions and they offered 250M with no landline (don't need it) for £25. Can't be arsed with the hassle of switching so took it initially but could I get alot better?

I have seen reports of people getting that for less than £20? You could cancel and try again? Remember if you are dialling in, you are not really speaking to customer retentions - you generally need to give notice and be called by their outbound team to get the best offers.

Also you could potentially leave and a family member sign up via Quidco Compare Home Broadband (or Topcashback) for cashback and bill credit.
  • My 18 month contract runs till 26th Dec.
I had a landline call today offering a package with increased speed for £5 more, I said no.

    1. I always ring to cancellations before contract expiry date and we reach some agreement. I'll do this again to determine their best price.

    IF THAT'S NO GOOD:

    2. Can I give my notice (contract under Mum's name) and re-join under my name to take account of new customer better deals?
    3. Can this be done without loss of days or service, so straight away when it expires?
