Had the call from cancellations team. Deal was awful, in fact on each offer the price keeps going up.

    XL Tv
    Evenings and weekends
    200mb BB

£52 a month plus line rental on top, £18.99 or whatever it is.

Explained I didn't need the 200mb BB but that was the best they could do.

Can see me leaving this time to be honest. Liking the look of a BT package thats £39.99 including line rental.

Well not exactly a success (In that I haven't yet signed up for a new contract)

I'm currently with Virgin Media, £36 for 150mb fibre (Started off as 50mb years ago but had free speed upgrades)

The best they can do is now £29.75. I was really hoping to be paying closer to £20. Not bothered about speed (I probably don't even need 50mb).

They've got a brilliant deal on just now, 50mb fibre for £18 but for new customers only so they won't allow me to have that deal.

Am I being too greedy? Is £29 a good price for fibre? Part of me thinks I should just go for normal broadband but once you take into account the cost of line rental, you're almost as well paying the extra for fibre.

I've had enough of Virgin Media now and will be making the call later this morning to cancel the service.

Currently, my package is as follows...

    Big Kahuna Sports Bundle
    Talk Weekends
    Full House TV (XL)
1 Additional V Box V HD Monthly Fee TiVo Monthly Fee
    VIVID 152 Optical Fibre
Sky Sports 1 Sky Sports 2

    Total £94.47

    Phone line rental
    Telephone Line Rental
    Phone line rental total £19.00

    Your package total - £113.47

I've got to have internet at home as I build & maintain websites. What I can't stomach anymore is the way the bill rises each month and with nothing to show for it. My last six bills have all been bigger than the previous one despite no changes to my package.

It's a farce I can't put up with any longer.
  • A year of free landline cost my deal is up so next months bill has gone up. I cancelled, got the phone call 3 days later, best they could do was £20.05 for 75 mbps fibre and ditch the landlines or £25, something to keep the landline. Was hoping to keep my costs under £20 like the past 12 months...

I don't need a landline, it's there so my family can call me... I can't get them to understand they can call my mobile on the packages they have!
  • Virgin media put my bill up twice this year (i expect most of you have been affected by this if you are a vm customer.). Although it went up three times as my sign up discount ended. It started at £22 net of 15 pound discount. Then with the price hikes and my 12 month discount stopping. I have ended up paying 42 pounds for Internet and a landline phone, which I do not even use as like most things everything cones with a phone line you have to pay for.) They also upgraded my broadband from 50mb to 75mb (i did not ask for this... but they said it was free... but then later the prices went up lol)
With this increase I did hum and har about cancelling. As the last price hikes they gave me a get out of jail free card. but for the reliability of Internet not cutting out after reading numerous reviews for other providers I decided to stay.

So last week I got a letter. The letter said I could have full house movies tv (xl tv) package which includes 200mb broadband and the same landline deal for 39 a month... so I'm thinking ok
... i could get more for three pounds less a month.... except the terms and conditions then contradict the letter and states new customers only and i would have to pay early exit fees...

So I rang the dreaded sales people (not a fan of speaking to customer services/sale reps etc) and asked about the offer... after speaking with the sales person and taking the offer... it's cost me 14.99 activation fee to have a set top box with No early exit fees and they have entered me into a 12 month contract wiping out the 24 month contract, which I am half way through (so not really a change) with a guaranteed fixed price for 24 months.

Normally I rip the Junk mail up and put it into the recycling. But it paid to spare five minutes reading it :-)

Yeah I had a letter. See Tv forum.

I still had discount so wasn't as good value for me.

I didn't like the first line of the small print. Prices can go up?

I'm not aware of a single company that won't include that in the small print I'm afraid.

Yeah I know what your saying.

It's just that in massive letters it said "Prices guaranteed for 24 months"

And the small print said prices may rise.

I didn't know exactly where the middle ground was.
