Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Thanks iniltous. I have said to port the number, so that should at least get VM to know I have an order with someone else. Incidentally when I was giving my notice to quite VM in December, the agent suggested that I get an order from someone else to help trigger an outbound call (and then to cancel that order). Will give it a few days and if nothing, then call them and haggle a bit - but it won't be anywhere near the new customer deals.
Anyone got a view of cracking Sky deals for all movies/sports?0 -
Mine is
70mb
Talk more anytime
Phone line
£40.00 and im at the end of my contract.
Is this deal good or can i haggle?0 -

The above without the red text is £18.25 (without phone line).
Q. Do you have a contract phone?
Q. Do you use the landline?
Q. Is the landline worth £22 per month?
I will ditch the landline, we all have contract phones with free minutes. Sadly our landline isnt free...!0 -
Ok, so I had to call retentions to make sure they had received the transfer request from TalkTalk. They said they had and then said they could create a form and pass me to the "porting team" who would then call be back within the hour.
The porting team then called me and offered me a deal which I took without much haggling:
200MB + new super hub
Talk anytime
Full House+HD+Movies+Sports
1 TIVO+2 V6 boxes (I had to haggle to replace my two other boxes with V6 ones)
Total £84 (no install fees etc)
12 month contract
New deal for customers is as above minus 1 TIVO for £85.
I know others on the forum have got the above for even less, but it looks like they had fewer V6 boxes and also had a rant at VM for cutting services early.0 -
I've recently tried to haggle but only got 50mb broadband down to £28.25 - which is about £4 off the normal price. I have now cancelled my service, am i likely to get a call or should I call them back in a week or so?0

You should get a call. Hold out. Get a good idea of the best 'other option' you could move to so when they call you, you can tell them thats who you are moving to.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

I would wait.
Best I could get was 150mb BB, Phone Line, New Router (NO TV) for £25 a month. I did have to wait for a callback.0 -

Having the encouragement of reading through the many comments above I cancelled my Virgin package in the hope of getting a better deal.
I'm was on their Player bundle with basic TiVo TV, 50Mbps broadband and weekend calls and was due to start paying £45.50 per month.
When I called they offered me the same package for £21.50 per month plus line rental up front for £196 which I refused.
2 days later I had missed a call on my mobile and 2 on my landline from Virgin. A following 4 missed calls later, on Saturday, I was able to pick up and they offered me the same deal with 70Mbps broadband for £13 per month plus line rental for £196 which I accepted. Saving me a yearly total of £194.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.0 -
70Mb isn't even one of their offers?
