we are out of contract right now, do you think they can give us a better deal?0 -

Virgin Media gave me call earlier, discussed the 50MB Broadband was offered (per month) -without line rental saver - £24.00with line rental saver - £196 up front, then £5 per month. Total cost £21.33 per month.USwitch have an offered at the minute which is £25 per month for 50MB broadband. This is £300 per year. If we have a £50 referral from a friend, this brings it down to £250 per year (£20.83 per month), with the potential to bring it down even further with line rental saver..
I declined the deal, as it was not the best option at the minute.0 -
Virgin called earlier about my cancellation and initially offered line rental up-front (again) at £196 (I think it was) and £11 per month for 70MB BB with new free router = £27.33 ish a month.
Told them I was leaving for BT 50MB BB for £20 a month (after voucher incentive) and he was struggling to match it.
Then he said "I notice you don't use the phone, would you consider getting rid of it?" I said "Hell yes!!!!" and he then offered £18 per month for 70MB BB only. Needless to say I am now signed up for another 12m with Virgin and very happyA big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

Thats a good idea. I may give them a call now and see what they offer me without line rental. Sadly the phone line is just a way of PPI scammers ringing me all day.0 -

Just been offered 50MB for £18.25 per month, without Phone Line. They are calling back later, will try to push them for the 70MB speed. If not, will go with the above deal.
Account is £38 in credit from last years deal, therefore £15.08 per month effectively.0 -
Hi all,
I called up and handed in my notice to Virgin Media around the 28th of December. I still haven't had a call from outbound retentions. Anyone know how long they take?
If I arrange a switch to Talk Talk/Sky, will that prompt the call?
Cheers0 -

Don't assume they will call because they don't always.0 -
Oh dear. Any suggestions? Shall I call them up and try to re-negotiate?
Stuck with a monthly bill over £150 per month for 100MB, Evening/Weekends Phone, TV/SkySports/MovieHD, 3 boxes (including 1 TIVO).
There are some great deals out there for new customers - just can't get them to give me anything remotely close.0 -
see the Sky deal for slow ADSL if you get desperate.
You need to get a code though.0 -
Unless someone was going to port their phone number to Talk Talk or Sky, VM would be completely unaware of an order with anyone else, so TV and broadband would continue to be supplied ( and charged for) the phone too, if Sky or TT give a 'new' number...only porting the number would only affect the telephony part of the VM service
VM use their own network, TT and Sky rely on Openreach.
As you have already quit VM but not yet signed up with another provider you probably will be getting a 'new' number anyway when you eventually do pick a new provider.
VM are obviously under no obligation to try and retain you as a customer, if they call your bluff and you don't really want to change provider you will need to call them back and cancel your cancellation, generally retention deals are usually not as good as deals for 'new' customers, they may have already made you their 'best' offer, so if you said 'no' to that, they probably won't call you again.
If 'service' is important to you, you need to call someone else fairly quickly or you may be without any service at all for a while , as Sky or TT may take a few weeks to get you connected.0
