  • Just got in to find out I've missed three calls from Virgin Media. Message says don't ring back as they will try again...damn. I hope they do. Yes I am going to look at competitors offers tonight. Thanks for the advice.
  • Well I just got "the call" before I had a chance to look at anything else.

    Full House tv
    200 meg BB
    Weekend calls

    £35 ...one year contract

Happily accepted. Almost 50% discount on original package and gone from L to XL on tv and BB.

Thats a great deal. I'm paying that for 200 meg BB on its own. Fingers crossed they call soon. Did they ask you why you were leaving etc.?
  • Oh yes they did so I told them I felt I was getting a bad deal for the price and he offered me that straightaway. I asked if I could go down to mediumtv and bb and pay less but he said no but I'm very happy with what I was offered. Good luck with yours.

I phoned Virgin on monday to cancel my service i was currently getting

    Full House Tv
    150 vivid optical fibre
    unlimited calls
    Tivo box + 2 extra V boxes

for £86.00 as with november increases I was also out of contract all they offered me was a monthly £4 discount and a £50 goodwill gesture so I continued with cancellation.
I received a call from virgin on wednesday evening with a upgrade to 200 vivid optical fibre and all the same services for £38.00 for 12 months including line rental I jumped at it but phoned back a hour later just to make sure the deal was real and the girl i spoke too said i got a fantastic deal, so its definitely worth making that call.

    Went with:
    Full House TV
    200Mpbs
    500Gb Tivo box
    Free weekend calls

For £30 per month- 12 month contract, which I though was decent. Just to be clear, you have to leave and wait for them to call you back. Got nothing close to that, before I left.

Have to say, very decent people to haggle with. Polite, but fair.

If it helps, I just said I was changing jobs in work and couldn't afford to pay what I was paying. They asked me what I could afford- I said a maximum of £30 per month.

Surprise surprise- when they called me back, they offered me everything I asked for - at bang on £30 !!

Looks like Virgin are really giving out good deals - I thought mine was good but I'd happily have paid £30 for that package.

The interesting thing is that I didn't have to push too hard for that. In the past they played alot harder.

Yeah the conversation I had with retentions basically didn't have any haggling. I explained why I was leaving and after she checked my account and found that we've been with them for about 9 years she just offered the deal at £14 without TV or £16 with it. Wonder if they are concerned about losing customers to sky?
