Well done. That is a cracking deal
    Total - £340.00

    wins : £7.50 Virgin Vouchers, Nikon Coolpixs S550 x 2, I-Tunes Vouchers, £5 Esprit Voucher, Big Snap 2 (x2), Alaska Seafood book
  • That's a brilliant deal, even better than mine. Well done.
  • Just got off the phone after speaking to a very nice young lady at Virgin (makes such a difference when the staff you speak to are nice and approachable).
Anyway I've decided to stay with 'em. I did say initially I wanted to leave and quoted this deal with TalkTalk....
    https://www.talktalk.co.uk/shop/
However, after discussing my account, I was offered an 18 month contract (6 months at approx £21, 12 months at £26) if I renewed my RLS (£196)
    For this I'll get -
    70mbs
    Free weekend calls
    M+ TV (or the equivalent)
    TIVO box
The box is being delivered 5th December and I'll install it myself (if they do it, it'll cost me £40)
Even with this deal I don't think It'll be cheaper than TalkTalk, but I've been with Virgin for a long time and have, by and large, found their service very good, so am feeling reasonably happy and sanguine with the choice I've made.
Thank you everybody for input and advice.
My TIVO box came today and I was able to install it OK.
First impressions are it's a bit fiddly and not as user friendly as the V+ box, but I expect I'll get used to it.

The Tivo box is the worse box iv'e ever come across never seen anything as bad dead slow iplayer takes forever and half the time doesn't work. When my contract is up i'll be giving them some real hassle. Also broadband after 6pm is dire nothing like the 100mb i'm supposed to get.

    Best I could get is:

    No TV - 70mb / Phone Weekends

£196 line rental in advance (paid £100 last year)
    £10 for 6 months (8 last year)
£13 for 6 months (11 but rose to about £14.50 for 3 months)

    So £334

Last year 205 :( (agreed last year but additional £11)

I've booked to cancel so might give on of the others ago.

I got told by one if their operators we could gey a boost upto 70mb. It is supposed to be an offer we qualify for but when I asked how much, they said it would increase our monthly bill massively. So obviously I said no thankyou I will stick with 50mb.

    Doing the renewal dance again,

    Called twice and cancelled:

    Offer 1
    Line rental offer £196
    £45 a month
    70mb BB
    XL TV
    Evening and weekend calls

    Offer 2
    50mb BB
    XL TV
    Evening and weekend calls
    £65

They did not seem to understand how their second offer was worse than their first. I basically want to pay £50 and no line rental, got free line rental last year.

Awaiting the call back, feel in a stronger position negotiating this year, our tivo box died two month ago so lost all our recordings.

Looking at talk talk but surprised at how expensive it is!

Yeah, I am not too fussed on XL, but its cheaper than getting BT sport only which is weird!

Talk Talk fibre is £38 with their tv pack included and unlimited calls.

I may just ask virgin to do lowest tv pack/BB and evening calls.
I rarely get a chance to watch bt sport now anyway, the main issue is the ufc, pay per view events are bt sport only in uk.
