Phoned to put cancellation in for a neighbour just over a week ago. The agent said they would keep the phone line open so that a number port can be processed - which I understand. However, as yet she hasn't received a call back, and I guess its because the online acocunt is showing as pending downgrade, rather than full disconnection.
My thoughts are now to raise an order with another provider and request the number port, which should kick them into action. If she does then negotiate a new deal, the new order can be cancelled. Wish I'd just said to cancel everything now!
Any thoughts on best way to progress?

Put in my cancellation which is due to take effect on 10 Sept - have had a couple of calls from what I believe is Retentions from searching the number, but haven't been able to take them as been in meetings or whatnot, and no message was left or email sent with any offer. Is that it do you think?
They don’t leave a voicemail or send email from my experience. Not sure how many times they try calling.

Seems a bit of a lousy way of trying to retain you - I would stay if they offered me something half decent because I know what I'm getting with them - to not even leave a message saying who it was calling is incredibly poor IMHO

They're not going to spend too much time, effort and money in order to retain a customer who wants a cheaper deal, when they presumably get enough mugs new customers coming along who they can suck in with a similar low price for little effort - and are more likely to fall into the renewal trap when their contract ends.

You may get a text message with an offer or another call

I'm now out of contract, paying £106(!)/month for:
    • M350 broadband
    • Maxit TV
    • Weekend calls
I tried the website chat at the weekend, they offered me £76/month, or £71/month for Mixit TV. I declined, and asked to cancel.

Got a call on Tuesday which offered me £55/month for my current package, £45/month for Mixit, or £34/month for just the M350 broadband. I declined again, because I based on what I've read here I can get better than that. Should I just wait for another call, or call them back to see what they say?
To wrap this up, I had a text from them today, so put a call in to the 020 number. They offered my package for £50/month. In the end, I decided to add on Sky Sports HD, which brought it to £61/month. Perhaps I could spend more time hammering them down, but this is a big reduction so I took it.

So only £5 extra discount? How long was left on your notice period?

Is the sky sports in UHD or just standard 720p HD?

So I'm in a pickle here. I'm currently on M350, but got them to M125, Maxit, Calls, Sky Sports to £57 for 6 months, then up to £73 for the final 12. This is just on the phone, but they said they couldn't do any better than that - to be fair the guy was great. Had the manager involved who was pretty useless to be fair. I've asked for a call back on Friday as the guy said there might be some more discounts that pop through for September. Works out about £80 more expensive than a new customer would get it the package over 18 months.

Any tips what to do next?

If you’re out of contract, put a cancellation in and wait for them to call back and offer you better price.  That £57 should be for whole 18 month really. It probably averages out mid 60s so is reasonable as it is I expect.isn’t it £72pm month for the sports bigger bundle for New customers?  But generally if that what was offered before cancellation, you can do better

FYI when I cancelled last week I got a call back from retentions following day offering £58pm for 18 months for M250/maxit/weekend calls/sky sports (sd) though I declined. So you should be able to improve significantly on your current offer if you give your 30 days notice.

I put in notice to cancel a few weeks ago, got a few calls back, one of which i answered and declined the offer.

With my cancellation date coming up and seeing what's on offer in comparison admittedly now I'm thinking about asking them if the offer is sill on the table - what are the chances?
