Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

My contract isn't up until 1st November, but I had a call this evening from Virgin offering me a new deal. It is -
· Volt M350 Fibre Broadband
· Virgin TV V6 Box, powered by TiVo
· Sky Sports Collection · Maxit TV
18 months for £46 a month.
This seems like a good deal to me - or could I do better?
Also is it usual for Virgin to pro-actively offer me this? I haven't contacted them at all.0 -
I'm now out of contract, paying £106(!)/month for:
- M350 broadband
- Maxit TV
- Weekend calls
Got a call on Tuesday which offered me £55/month for my current package, £45/month for Mixit, or £34/month for just the M350 broadband. I declined again, because I based on what I've read here I can get better than that. Should I just wait for another call, or call them back to see what they say?0 -
Hi Folks. Newby on the forum but in the same boat as some of you guys.
My contract ends with VM next month and have handed in my 30 days notice yesterday. I'm currently on 1gig volt with anytime calls for £32 per month.
I'm interested in the ultimate volt bundle so that I can ditch my iptv provider (£80 a year) and just use VM TV. What's the cheapest price I should aim for Ultimate volt? They have already called me twice but I was busy and didn't answer the calls.
Also, are their Sky Sports and BT sports in UHD or just standard 720p HD? I'm looking for UHD channels for sports.
Thank you in advance.0 -
Ultimate volt can be be had for £40 to £50 a month just keep insisting on this priceNinj4 said:Hi Folks. Newby on the forum but in the same boat as some of you guys.

Can you expand on how the ‘just keep insisting’ works in practice? Reason I ask is because from my experience when outbound loyalty call there is not a whole lot of negotiation, ie they tell you the best deal and maybe you can get another few £ knocked off but then if keep insisting they say can’t go any lower and just proceed to agree that that’s that and sorry to see you go. And no subsequent second call to offer even lower albeit this is only based on a few examples over the years so not a large sample size.mits999 said:

Good shout tg99. Also, if we play bluff and insist on having it for a lower price and they don't budge. Can we extend it for another month or so while we look for alternatives or do they just switch you off on the last day?tg99 said:

If you gave 30 days notice to terminate all services VM will indeed cut you off on the last day You can phone VM before the 30 days is up and ask them to stop the termination of all services without agreeing a new contract. Then wait a day or two and then give VM a new 30 days notice to terminate all services.Ninj4 said:Can we extend it for another month or so while we look for alternatives or do they just switch you off on the last day?
Reminder you will be paying undiscounted price for VM services if it extends beyond the original minimum 18 month term contract.1 -
Put in my cancellation which is due to take effect on 10 Sept - have had a couple of calls from what I believe is Retentions from searching the number, but haven't been able to take them as been in meetings or whatnot, and no message was left or email sent with any offer. Is that it do you think?

You just need to call up and cancel the cancellation before disconnection date…you could then try recancelling shortly after to trigger another outbound call and hope it’s a better offer.Ninj4 said:

They don’t leave a voicemail or send email from my experience. Not sure how many times they try calling.Matt_OX4 said:Put in my cancellation which is due to take effect on 10 Sept - have had a couple of calls from what I believe is Retentions from searching the number, but haven't been able to take them as been in meetings or whatnot, and no message was left or email sent with any offer.
