I'm now out of contract, paying £106(!)/month for:
    • M350 broadband
    • Maxit TV
    • Weekend calls
I tried the website chat at the weekend, they offered me £76/month, or £71/month for Mixit TV. I declined, and asked to cancel.

Got a call on Tuesday which offered me £55/month for my current package, £45/month for Mixit, or £34/month for just the M350 broadband. I declined again, because I based on what I've read here I can get better than that. Should I just wait for another call, or call them back to see what they say?
To wrap this up, I had a text from them today, so put a call in to the 020 number. They offered my package for £50/month. In the end, I decided to add on Sky Sports HD, which brought it to £61/month. Perhaps I could spend more time hammering them down, but this is a big reduction so I took it.
So only £5 extra discount? How long was left on your notice period?

Is the sky sports in UHD or just standard 720p HD?
About 2 weeks left until disconnection. That was for Sky Sports with full HD/UHD. I could have had on SD for £54/month.
  • Anyone got a good deal on 1 Gig fibre and nothing else? The best price they're offering me on cancellation is £45 (Currently paying £39, which has crept up from £35 at contract start). I'd consider staying for £35 when retentions call.

I'm paying £32 for 1gig broadband and anytime calls. I have put in my notice about a week ago. So you should be able to get 1gig broadband for a lot cheaper than £45. The rep on whatsapp wanted to charge me £55 for the same tarrif which I politely declined. Waiting for retentions to call me.

Yes I get it for £28 with maxit TV and phone
  • I ended up on M250, Mega TV and Sky Sports for £59. Will have to upgrade Sky Sports to HD though, as SD is unwatchable. I got this just through the usual phone number - I could have played the merry-go-round and probably got it slightly cheaper, but I couldn't be bothered.

Word of warning for sports lovers though, TNT/BT Sports is no longer included in the new TV packages as a standard from 1st September.

Has TNT Sports been dropped from Maxit TV then for new customers but retained for existing customers? Is Mega TV same as Maxit?

Just so everyone is aware TNT sports is now an add on they can charge anywhere between £1 to £18

also ultimate volt £85 package has been replaced with mega volt £85 you now get a lower speed from 1gb down to 500mb, also you get 1 tv box less and TNT SPORTS is not included

i really can see virgin not doing well from this your actually better off with sky from now on

How long ago was that? I renewed for 6 months earlier this year when the price rises kicked in and no one was managing to get 1gig for less than £35

Wow. I was interested in the ultimate volt and ditch my iptv but this new package is pants for the same price. They have definitely lost me as a potential renewing customer. I'm now just gonna sign up with community fibre 1gig and extend my iptv service that I'm very happy with.

Yep agreed. £18 for TNT.. madness. Sounds like if you're on the old packages, you have TNT still until you switch over packages. Something to be wary of when negotiating new packages. Can't see Virgin doing well off of this either.
