Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

I rang Virgin today and spoke to a nice lady called Andrea. Negotiated a new deal. Before I was paying £47.50 (before the price increase). The new deal is £51 for 18 months for -
Mix TV with Virgin V6 box.
M200 Fibre Broadband (before it was M100).
Telephone Line Rental - Talk Weekends.
She told me this incorporates any price increases.
I suppose I'm reasonably content with this. It would have been nice to be paying something under £50, and sometimes I wish I had the gumption to cancel my contract and see if retentions contact me, to offer something cheaper.
But, I've been with Virgin for donkeys years, and mostly find them very good, so I can live with this new deal.0 -
These deals will of course be subject to a price increase in March/April 2023, but there should be the option to leave without penalty at that time.

Yes, your right Victor, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.victor2 said:These deals will of course be subject to a price increase in March/April 2023, but there should be the option to leave without penalty at that time.0 -
You don’t really have anything to lose by putting in a cancellation. You have 30 days to change your mind, even if retentions don’t call you back. You just call back and cancel the cancellation, and then take whatever deal they offer. It could save you hundreds a year by doing that. At the end of the day it’s down to each individual to decide what they are happy paying.whattochoose said:I rang Virgin today and spoke to a nice lady called Andrea. Negotiated a new deal. Anyone got any tips, no call from retentions and when I call in and speak to anyone the offers are really expensive compared to my current rate and what new customers get.0

Follow up on your notice to leave then. Did you look at alternatives before giving your notice? You can always come back as a new customer at a later date.

Called back multiple times. Every other time I have given notice retentions have called me and given me a half decent deal.victor2 said:Bhav187 said:Anyone got any tips, no call from retentions and when I call in and speak to anyone the offers are really expensive compared to my current rate and what new customers get.

This is the same thing I negotiated this week but my price is £17 a month cheaper than yours. Call them back under the cooling off period and say you'd like a better deal or you're off!whattochoose said:I rang Virgin today and spoke to a nice lady called Andrea. Negotiated a new deal.
