Current Package: M50, about 12 months left
    Current Price: £19.00
    Proposed price rise: +£3.25 to £22.25 (17%)

New price: M100 for 18 months for £13.

So a decent saving and a better package against them just leaving me alone for the next 12 months.

I had seen (via the MSE deals) that community fibre were doing 150Meg for £15.88 in my area, which I didn't expect virgin to compete with a new customer deal. I told them so and tried to leave, so they offered £13. Rather surprised, but happy to take it.

40 mins spent on the phone, the vast majority of which was listening to their (not too bad) hold music.
    That’s a great price, think that’s cheapest I seen
  • Cancelled and 2 days later recieved a callback from retentions.

200mb broadband (boosted to 350mb with Volt as have cheap O2 Sim only)
Maxit TV with BT Sport ad Sky Sports (SD)
    Talk Weekends

    £50.25 a month for 18 months

Was on 100mb, Mix TV and Talk Weekends before for £38, going up to £66 after price increase and contract ending in Feb. Big footy fan so more than happy with all the sports channels and faster broadband for £12 extra a month. Extra TV channels with more to watch keeps the other half happy as well

That’s a great price.  My dad got that but with sports Hd £66 (Hd normally £7pm) so you £9 pm better off than him. Basically same price as I pay, £56 but I have Hd sports too.
  • I got offered £21 for 200Mb which is decent but not what I want. Called for something better and they were ironically giving even higher offers so I put my cancellation in. I think I was called by someone but missed the call and had nothing since.

Might need to go in as a new customer with someone else in the house (which works out better anyway with the cashbacks). Does anyone know how long after the cancellation date someone else can join?

Was that the opening offer on your call from retentions or did it take some effort to work them down? Hoping to achieve a similar price!

They called me on a Saturday, after I gave my cancellation on the Friday.

So my original deal was due to expire next month

    100mb BB
    Phone Weekends
    £27

Was due to go up with the price increase to £55

Spoke with cancellations, her first offer was to keep the package and the new price be £27.25

I can live negating both increases with a 25p increase on my existing bill
The post immediately below yours reported getting £22, others have reported less, so it may be worth the cancellation dance to bring it down even lower (around £20 seems achievable for 100mb and phone).

One other qu re outbound retention calls: have people been receiving their call on their mobile or virgin landline? I always get the call on my mobile except one year (couple of years ago I think) when instead they called landline for some reason……lucky I picked up as never use it.

Haven't got a landline here (mobile only), and they called me in the past & hopefully again next week after I gave my 30 days notice
