Virgin M Landline + 350 meg broadband retained at £32 / Month all in for 18 months.
This was triggered by an order to BT; they had a black friday deal of £29.99 Month for 24 months, for basic landline and 150 meg FTTP. Cancelled the order with BT once Virgin offered us the above.1 -

Nice one.... I've done the very same thing in the past. VM hate losing customers to rivals....

I've now cancelled my package, no phone, no TV, just BB 50mg at £31pm (50 is sufficient for me)
I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you0 -
After cancelling yesterday and signing up with plusnet, I had my retentions call today. Without haggling they offered me £29 for 18 months. This included a upgrade in TV package, so get sky plus all the documentary channels (?) and excludes the price hike in march. Wasn't bothered by the extra channels but glad the price is only 50p more than what I was paying for the last 18 months.
I have found over the last two times I've done this it seems to help to sign up to someone else and initiate the phone number swap. This seems to get VM's attention and they call you. You can then just cancel with the new supplier as part of the 14 day cooling off period.0 -

I've no idea with technology; therefore, just thought it was OK

I recently received my email stating my bill was going up £3.50 from 1st March to £51.00. This was for the Mix TV (an old style TV package), 100 meg broadband and landline with talk weekends. I contacted VM on 12/1 and got through to someone after a little wait. They told me there was nothing they could do and I was on the best deal. I therefore told them I want to cancel - there was no attempt by them to try and sort anything out.Next day I put in my order with Sky along with a request to port my VM landline number accross. This was for their £39 package which included anytime landline calls and fibre broadband - in my part of the country I'd be getting around 35 meg. A couple of days later Sky got in touch saying they couldn't port the number from VM so I cancelled Sky and hoped VM would call with a deal.Unfortunately I didn't receive any calls from VM outbound retentions unlike others on here. It seems most people get a call within 2/3 days. I checked my profile which stated I'm OK from marketing calls etc. Therefore I took the advice on here and called 0345 454 1098 on 21/1. I got through immediately but had do the security checks. I said that I had a cancellation request in as I was moving to Sky (even though I'd already cancelled!!). I then said was there anything VM could do before I commit to moving to Sky. I was given two deals - one to stay on the same package as before for a bit less money or to go onto the Bigger bundle (which includes BT sports), 200 meg broadband and landline/talk weekends. When I asked the cost of this second package he said £41 with no increase on 1/3. Knowing that new customers can get the Bigger bundle with 100 meg for £45, I immediately agreed to take out the £41 deal. I'm not sure if I could have got a better deal but knowing I was getting something a bit more for a bit less than a new customer clinched it for me.My adivce is that if you don't get a call from VM after you put your cancellation in, then use the number above to call the retentions team and just ask if there's anything they can do.
