M100 broadband only, my £24 deal was coming to an end and was going up to £42. Just agreed to 18 months at £23, so a £1 saving.

Almost makes up for waiting on the phone for 40+ minutes (in addition to the 5 minutes I spend dialing in last night only to eventually get told the lines were closed).

    Hi
I was paying twice the price on what a new customer could get from virgin media
They offered me my package at a lower price but it wasn't great

I have now canceled and am. In the 30 days disconnection period
Will I get a call from them now with a better offer, or do I just join as a new customer with another provider

    Thanks
Did they call you with a better offer?
  • I called Virgin at the end of October as I was on M100 broadband, a very basic Tivo package and weekend calls package for ~£55 per month. I said I was considering leaving as I could save money. At that time they told me the very best they could do was £48 for the same package. I asked about dropping the TV and phoneline, and I was told M100 broadband on its own would be more than £55 for me.

So I had Openreach fibre installed, and called Virgin up to cancel today. First they offered the package for £30, then £25. I just had to laugh and ask why they didn't say that last time. Perhaps I might still be their customer if they did? It's too late for me now, I already have a functional alternative up and running, and I never will have to play this silly game again. I'm looking forward to helping some of my "loyal" Virgin customer neighbours leave too.

Because their processes are stupid. Always put a request in to leave, they only offer you better deals when you have done that.

Currently paying £27.94 for M100 package (basic TV, line rental, talk weekends and 100Mb broadband)
Just had an email saying my offer is ending, and the price is going up to £42.94 in January.

Virgin are offering new customers in my area phone and 100Mb broadband for £27.99.  BT are offering "Fibre 2" (phone and 53/73 Mb broadband) for £31.99.

Virgin have offered me a new contract at £32.84 for 18 months (same services as now).

(I've also booked a call back through Virgin Money, as I've just switched a current account to them, and they are meant to offer special pricing.  Will report back on this later.)

ETA -  just got a call back in response to the request for a special price for switching to Virgin Money - £30.94, so £1.90 less than the earlier quote.

After 18 months it's finally time for my deal - 100Mb broadband at £24 a month - to end in January and go up to £37. I called up and was offered 1Gb for £64, so asked to go to cancellations.
    They offered me 100Mb for £23 for 18 months. I asked about 200Gb but that'd be £33 a month.
I accepted the £23 but would really like the 200Mb at around £23 - is it worth cancelling within the 14 day cooling off period to see if I can get a better offer or just accept I'm sticking with 100Mb?

Because of her employer's security rules, she has to use a VPN type programme on her laptop as we're both working from home now, but it seems to throttle the bandwidth. The theory is more Mb might make her internet connection better. There's no problem on my computer or anything else, so it's just that one laptop that needs the extra juice.
Just not sure it's worth another £120 or so a year to see if it helps.

Try a different server location on the VPN .

Strange, I'm in the exact position as you. 100mb and pay 23 per month.  Contract expiring next month,  normally they want to put up by £20 a month, and need to go through the hassle of cancelling and waiting for the call etc. This time the team went to check immediately offered to double my speed to 200mb for only £1 more at £24 a month!  Their first offer with literally zero effort from me!
I am guessing they must be desperate as this is totally different to my normal experience of the process.
