Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Out of contract and its going up by £50, I phoned retentions this morning and explained that I found the price rise too much especially when new customers were getting the same deal for £79. I said I'd looked at Sky's prices and with their black Friday deal it worked out that I'd get more for my money with them and would pay less. He said he'd see what he could do. He came bake and said he could offer me the same package for £161 which is more than I'm paying! I said I would be leaving and going with the sky offer. He said it's best to take out the sky subscription before cancelling in case I was without my broadband during switchover. I said I would do that and ring back.0

Have put off calling but after checking here got my act together. Present contract started 24/4/17, so previous deal well and truly over and ashamed to admit I've been paying £99.96 monthly for Full house tv, 100mb and talk weekend package.
Called and selected the 'wanting to leave' option. Just said that I've been looking around at other deals and I'm thinking of leaving. That's all I needed to say. Guy said he'd check out what he can offer. After a few minutes on hold, he offered the same package for £69 per month. I was happy with that but he then put me on hold again to make changes. After another wait came back to review: no charge for this month or next and £46.30 in January '21. So first £69 charge is February '21.
I've set a reminder for 18 months when new contract will end. No more procrastination from me.0 -

Just thought would let you know my deal, currently on full house, m100 and talk weekend, I was paying £78, next month will be £50.70 and £65 a month after. Happy with this for now. Hoping to get wireless mini box in another room next year, so will haggle again then.0
