Currently on the following at £50/month - due to expire at the end of November (Going up to £83/month).

    Bigger Bundle (MaxIt TV)
+ Free Extra Kids TV (But going to remove this as don't need after Nov)
    100Mbps Broadband
    Telephone (Weekend Calls)

What have others been offered on a similar package?

    Thanks in advance
As said above friend got £30 for the broadband and phone bit, the tv shouldn’t really add much to it.  The kids part they may give you free now Disney channels gone
  • The bigger bundle you describe there (100mbps, Maxit Tv & weekend calls) is advertised at £57 pounds / month for new customers rising to £82, as an existing customer it appears hard to get them below 0r even match those advertised prices?

Maxit Tv, 200mb, Sky Sports Hd, weekend calls £65 offered, was going up to £115.  Was genuine intention to move to Sky, but no need now as this slightly cheaper with far better broadband. Took a week for retentions call. Came in nick of time as was going to order Sky at weekend.
Exactly same package and price as you (outbound called day after cancellation; of note was that smallest % differential I can recall between best offer from inbound (£68pm) and outbound).

Got the call from retentions and got Ultimate Oomph package for £79, handy as I was just about to sign up for a SIM elsewhere with decent data for £20 a month, and the one that comes with this package is unlimited. So the unlimited SIM, 2 boxes, 500mb BB, Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Full TV and Talk more anytime. Happy with that.

Currently paying £81 for Full House maxit (including kids), phone (anytime calls) and 100mb broadband.  Told it would increase to £86.  Best deal was £70 for same package or mixit tv, anytime calls and 100mb at £66, then offered with no tv at £55.  Passed to disconnections who quoted £55 then £45 for broadband and tv only.  Eventually got a call back from outbound retentions who offered £38 for 100mb and any calls phone line.  I said new customers could get basic tv, anytime calls and 100mb for £37.99 but he didn't budge so I said I would stick to £30 for NowTv broadband and anytime calls despite lower broadband speed - particularly since I had had so many Virgin outages recently.   He gave him his mobile number in case I changed my mind before disconnection date of 16 October.  We are due gigabit fibre from Open Reach and City Fibre by next year so will see what else is available then as we really don't seem to watch any live tv nowadays.

I gave notice to leave virgin on the 14th October and not had any call back from retentions are they likely to call now?
I was on 100meg bb with basic tv and phone and is due to rise to 60 per month.
Best offer was 42 when I rang to cancel.
I'm thinking I want sky sports and bt sports now so is it worth calling back or easier to try a different provider now I've given notice?
  • My contract for Internet only was due up next month. Current deal £27pm, this was reduced last year by giving me credit worked out to £24.50pm over the 12 month contract. Renewal was offered £27pm for 6 months till April 2021 then £37pm when my previous years discount ended. I phoned to cancel, the phone was answered within a couple of minutes. I explained I could get fibre with all I need from plusnet or talk talk for £24pm. The nice lady said she could renew M100 18 month contract for £26.80pm. I refused this offer. Nice lady after looking at my usage said M50 would be enough for my requirements. M50 with 18 month contract was offered for £23pm. This I accepted, I think I could have knocked this down a pound or two pm if I tried a bit harder. I was happy to accept that deal as overall I am very happy with the service.

Has anyone ever had any luck with upgrading just their upload speed? I use VM, I'm on their VM100 Broadband Only, which costs me 17.75 a month. I don't really need the download speeds that much (the ~60mb speed was enough for me on BT before). However, the upload is really bad with Virgin, offering only about 10mb (whereas BT went up to 20 almost).

I like the pricing of Virgin, but I would still like to haggle regarding upload speed. I'd even be willing to let them lower my download speed, in exchanged for more upload, but don't know whether they would do that, when they can simply offer me the VM200 package (or higher) in exchange for a higher monthly fee. So if anyone's ever done something like that, let me know!
AFAIK upload is somehow locked at 10% of the speed of download. I once asked why and the explanation is it's a limitation of the under street boxes technology.

Just to reiterate that the best deals are for those that actually threaten to leave or even leave! I have been with VM for around 14 years and threatened to leave many times for a better deal, however last year I had to leave it until the last day of my notice to ring back and take the best deal on the table. This year I had no call back for two weeks until I actually signed up with another provider and hey presto the very next day a much better deal was offered which after some negotiation I happily took.
