    Previous Retention package
    350Mb Broadband £37 for 12 months

    New Retention Deal
Gig1 Broadband including Superhub 4, £47 for 18 months and £35 install charge wiped

What's peoples thoughts on this new deal?

My Virgin ended in April - i forgot to call them. Will do that tomorrow. I am paying 48 for 350 BB with Virgin. Need to haggle - you have a great deal i would take that quickly. How did u get the 1G broadband? i thought 500 was the max they offer
    Hello,

No they do have gagabit broadband in some areas but not all. The easy way to check is Google Virgin Media broadband and make sure your signed out and then basically go ahead as though your going to take out broadband with them and it will ask you for your postcode and its from that address that you can see what's available to you.

Also, make sure you always go through retentions it's option 4 4 and 2 (thinking of leaving us) is what your looking for in the menu. The retentions department have their own deals thats not available to any other department so your missing out by not doing this.

By taking out a new contract you have a 14 day cooling off period so there's still time. There is a deal for there gig1 broadband and a sim card with unlimited mins, texts and 5gb data for £49 per month. If 500Mb is the highest available then I'd imagine retentions can do a lower price than £49.

Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

Hi - yes there is no 1gig in my area. ITs a shame i want that. I cant believe your getting it for £47 pounds, its insane. How did you manage to get the 500 for £37?

U are right, i probably will be offered a better deal for 49 quid for the 500mb - and if they offered me a deal like you for 37 quid then i would go through the process for sure but if its just 1 or 2 quid off then i probably wont.

how did you get the deal? Did you just call the retentions deal by calling and saying u want to leave

Got a call back, for £35 I am getting 200 megabits, landline with anytime calls and a sim card with 5 gig data and unlimited minutes and texts.
Thats the sort of price I wanted shame I couldn't get a faster speed though.
  • Just got offered 100mb for £30 a month on 18 months contract. Did not seem like a great deal? I have cancelled which the agent seemed really annoyed about  :|

How long does it take roughly to get a call back with a better deal at the min?

Can I have some advice please? Have been with VM for 10 years. Every time I've come to the end of 12 or 18month contract I've been able to re sign up to an offer which is effectively the new customer offer slightly tweaked in return for signing up to a new 12/18 month contract. Today is the first time ever that they have said no to this! I'm on the top package and looking to move to ultimate oomph which is effectively the same. I went to retentions who said the best they can offer is 30 quid more than the new offer of 89/month @ 120ish which is more than I pay now for the same service but I'm currently out of contract so 1 month notice!!! Surely this can't be right!? no company should work that way. surely they have an incentive to tie me back in!?

anyway what to do next? thoughts gratefully received.

    Hello,
Please can someone tell me what am I doing wrong here.
I pay £50.50 for my M100 Broadband + landline that we hardly use. I called up asking to leave and they only offered me £42 saying that discounts are based on how many times customers called. I said I never called except when their services went down in our area and once when their equipment failed. I see people talking here about paying £30 for BB + TV so clearly there is something not right.

Can I just sign up to a new Broadband contract under my wife or parents name ? If I did something like this, is there a difference (in terms of days) in when the service is disconnected and new service is added?
I am relationship expert. Don't feel shy, say hello.

Ooof - is it just me, or don't they seem interested in haggling at all at the minute! I gave my month notice (hoping for a call back which never came) and called a couple of times again since - nothing! (Only a worse deal than I was offered when I initially cancelled, but apparently that offer isn't available any more).

Are they working from home, and less able to offer deals at the minute? I've previously had some fantastic renewal deals from VM.

Which bit is not right please? Inbound retentions rarely offer you a decent deal - you generally need to cancel and await a call back to get the better deals. Their incentive on the first call is to get you to accept a deal (and new 12/18 month contract) at the least discount possible. When you cancel, you the. Move to another team who have higher discounts available - they are only accessible by them calling you. It does seem strange, but this is how VMs process is set up.

Good luck with getting a better deal.

Yes, many of the call centres have not been working as normal due to Covid, so many have been working from home. It can be pot luck whether they call back - and when you call in, you just get the inbound team who have poor deals. From posts on here and elsewhere some have had luck requesting a call back from Outbound, though not always guaranteed. Another approach mentioned has been ordering broadband/landline with a competitor (where they have no upfront fees!), requesting a landline transfer and that can kick VM into action to offer a deal.

If you don't put your notice in, their staff may think you are bluffing (most of the time , we are, as we would prefer to stay!), so many won't offer a decent deal to stay. It sounds like nonsense about discounts being based on calls to them.

If you read around on here and elsewhere you can see the retention deal prices or new customer deals that some people have secured.
