Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

A saving against the drop to/rrp price is always going to appear higher, as unfortunately the way they price the package is designed to give this impression. A better comparison can be their new customer offers, plus cashback and any other incentives that they are offering. If you have time, it is also worth looking at what prices they have offered recently by looking at HotUKDeals and other sites over recent months, as their offers go in cycles too.As an example, the new customer offer for their highest package Ultimate Oomph including 2 boxes, all Sky Sports and Cinema, 500mb, unlimited calls and an unlimited Sim is £89 per month, plus £130 Quidco or TopCashback and £100 account credit. Cashback from TCB/Quidco have been near £200 pre-Covid and account credits up to £150 or other incentives. You won't get these deals as an existing customer, but may be able to get near it without the cashback looking at what others have achieved. So long as you are happy with your deals that is all that matters, but they will be happy if they manage to keep you without having to give you much of a discount.
it may be repeating advice on here but you will 99% of the time get a better price if you cancel and wait for the call from Outbound retentions. Inbound have some offers but from most reports online they are lower than outbound can give. It may be a little more hassle, but this is how their system is set up and it can be worth it for the savings.0 -
After 37 minutes on hold, I eventually got 50p off my pre-end of contract price. Not bad I suppose. The agent said something about calling in a couple months to see if they could offer a discount with no fees for changing contract mid-way through. Anyone ever done this?---

Anyone ever done this?Generally you can only renegotiate at the end of your contract/after the 12 or 18 months is up, or as a result of them changing prices which can trigger the escape clause.
If you want a discount/better deal, now is the time or you are likely kicked in for 18/12 months.Once you agree a new contract, you should have 14 days cooling off, so can cancel if you have buyers regret and use the 30 days notice period to find a better deal or agree one with their outbound retentions team.0 -
Any decent deals on 200mb? I was on £24 for 200mb bb only this year. Put in a cancel waiting for a call.0

My Virgin ended in April - i forgot to call them. Will do that tomorrow. I am paying 48 for 350 BB with Virgin. Need to haggle - you have a great deal i would take that quickly. How did u get the 1G broadband? i thought 500 was the max they offer0 -
I just gave my notice, I was paying £36 for 200Mb with anytime calls until 2 years ago when it went to £42 and they kept increasing it and I kept haggling them back down, despite it meant to be £42 since their last price increase it has been £45.50 and now they want it to be £49 I kept trying to cancel and they kept giving me lies, that despite BT fibre being up to 80 I would get 2 if I was lucky, and as I am a high usage person any other provider would refuse to take me on, and said if I wanted to transfer my number then I couldn't cancel!I gave my 30 days notice and heard to woman who sounded annoyed over the phone to me huffing and puffing!0

just called them myself and upgraded to the 500mb for 49 quid a month. Pretty much same as new customer offer which is £46 per month. Thought it was a good deal and took it. Didnt even need to talk to retention team just normal customer service. Probably could have got an extra 3 quid saving if i went there but just wanted this done and dusted and to be honest, thought it was a good deal0

No they do have gagabit broadband in some areas but not all. The easy way to check is Google Virgin Media broadband and make sure your signed out and then basically go ahead as though your going to take out broadband with them and it will ask you for your postcode and its from that address that you can see what's available to you.
Also, make sure you always go through retentions it's option 4 4 and 2 (thinking of leaving us) is what your looking for in the menu. The retentions department have their own deals thats not available to any other department so your missing out by not doing this.
By taking out a new contract you have a 14 day cooling off period so there's still time. There is a deal for there gig1 broadband and a sim card with unlimited mins, texts and 5gb data for £49 per month. If 500Mb is the highest available then I'd imagine retentions can do a lower price than £49.
Give it a go and let us know how you get on.0 -

Retentions are a hit and miss, deals change regularly and they can help you if you help them. What I mean by that is, if you can give them a reason it really streamlines the justification for providing a better deal if possible as I believe the department is regulated and if they gave everyone the best deals then there not doing there job so me for example I've had two superhub 3 replacements and the third one is still playing up, slow Internet in peak times and spikes in ping, with that they now have a "reason" to try and help me out with a deal which ended up being their gig1 broadband, superhub 4 and no activation fee for £47 per month.
