  • He clarified it was £24 for 10 months, 2 months no charge at all January and February, and £50 credit paid in march.
Starts 25 December, so nice Christmas present from VM

Great, effectively £15.83 per month .
  • Got my contract, I was mistaken, I'm getting £50 credit which equals the 2 months free, so average £19.88 pm.

I'm still very pleased with the deal, so no complaints there.
  • I'm also looking to get a better deal from virgin, but when put through to retention's I was offered 50mb for £32 ( this was the very lowest they would offer me), I'm currently paying almost £38 for 100mb as wasn't aware that my contract has ended which then hiked the price up.

What I was wondering is, if I call them back and state I'm 100% leaving would they cut the line straight away, leaving me then to find another provider, or would it take a few days in which time they hopefully call me back to offer a better deal?

You give 30 days notice so have 30 days for them to phone back/arrange a new deal. Giving notice moves you on to the outbound retentions team who can offer better deals.

    Thanks Anon,

Hopefully they will call, if not I will get the wife to sign up as a new customer.

We've been with virgin for years and cant remember the last time I cancelled them and moved to another provider, so forgot what there usual protocol is once you give your 30 days.

That won't work if she shares your surname and address, you realise?

I beg to differ as would many others who have done it - we signed up in Mrs Anons name as new customers ... you just have to tick moving to this address rather than existing to get the order page up. The existing customer is the named person on the account, so a different name is a new customer. So long as you do it within 90 days you should be able to transfer existing email accounts to the new account too (just long enough for cashback to payout ;)).

Just remember to check Quidco/Topcashback and time your sign up to get the best deal

It all depends how strict the advisor chooses to be.

If this is in reply to me, I never had reason to speak to an advisor - it was all ordered online to ensure that the cashback tracked.

If it is about retentions deals more generally, yes it does seem to depend on who you get on the day as deals achieved vary from reports on here and other sites.
