Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Parents are paying £50 for 50Mb broadband and I think talk anytime.
Going to look for a new deal later elsewhere, ring them, reject whatever they offer first. Then sign up to a new provider, not taking the risk of waiting for a call back (like I did and never got one).0 -

£50 for 50Mbps? Ouch.
To put that in perspective I have NowTV fibre and get a rock solid 37Mbps DL & over 9Mbps UL for £20 a month although it's PAYG for calls (I've got unlimited minutes with Sky Mobile). Definitely time to get that sorted.0 -
After 12 years I've finally had enough with Virgin. I called to cancel on Friday and they offered to wave the latest price increase but I just said no cancel it.
I just what to know when would be best to get in contact with another provider ? If Virgin call back and offer me something for sub £25 I will probably stay, but don't want to get caught in limbo. At the same time I am more than happy to leave them if they don't wanna play ball, it's frankly staggering how frequently they increase their prices, even weeks into a new contract, they have no morals.0 -

Got similar 6 months deferment of my increase (£2) without asking for it. Just mentioned the clause at the end of the increase letter that says "if you're on a promotional offer we will honour it".
I think most people are on some sort of promotional offer aren't they? Certainly the ones on this forum.0 -

They would likely give a bigger discount if you actually cancel and await a call back from outbound retentions.0 -

Definitely agree. But in my specific case I'm already on a very good deal and didn't want all the hassle (again!) just to save what would have probably only been a pound ot two.0 -
Ok, am I getting a bad deal? I used to pay £36 until last year for 200 meg with unlimited calls, and £43 since then, I phoned as last day before I can cancel and was told they can't do better but can waive the £3 price increase.0

I am confident you will get a better deal but call to cancel NOW.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Gave 30 days notice which is due to end on 3rd November. Phoned Virgin today as had not had a call from them. Said best they could do was;
£37 for 100mb broadband/ line rental and calls for 6 moths then goes upto £40 per month for 6 months.
or £28 for 100mb broadband only
or £23 for 50mb.
I am currently paying £24pm (very good offer for past two years). Am I likely to get anything better than whats been offered above?
As my contract finishes on Sat, can I extend it for a shorter period rather then be tied in for 12 months? ThanksJan Grocery challenge
Budget £350 - Spent £64.45 to date0
