Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

I have been a virgin media customer for over 8 years, with recent loss of UKTV channels it’s forced me to look at things. Currently paying £95.20 for Sports (not in HD), Cinema, Base Packs channels, 1 TiVo box, 100mb broadband and line rental.
I phoned retention’s and best guy offered me was whole package for £84. He then said to further reduce cost I would have to remove services !!!128558; I think that’s shocking!
I totally feel undervalued as a customer - guy said he do a package review and just asked if I watched sports and cinema so his solution straight away was to try take things off. I know Virgin are inundated with calls but service from advisors are crap.0 -

That's actually excellent service from the advisor. They work for Virgin, not you, and they're trying to maximise profit for the company (and through bonuses, themselves probably). It's not their fault you're paying a fortune every year when you most probably don't need to. If you don't like it, leave.0 -
Ok so I posted for feedback from people about whether it!!!8217;s a good deal and I get this reply. I!!!8217;m not looking for aggression thank you0

Aggression? You must be thin skinned if you see any aggression in there. That said you display some aggression yourself in both your original rant and your reply.
My feedback is that it's too dear and you should leave, is that better for yourself?0 -
Just don!!!8217;t post how about that for you, if you have nothing constructive. Don!!!8217;t know why you bothered commenting in first place.0

And again with the aggressive posts, pretty sure that's not your decision bud who does and doesn't post on here so if it's all the same to you I'll continue0 -
Go ahead continue what other little nuggets and fountains of wisdom do you have because you have contributed so much !!!55357;!!!56847;0

Our previous contract ended back in February. We were paying £43 a month for 100MB, tv player bundle, and talk weekends.
We rang a few weeks before the contract was due to end and we were offered the same for £35 a month, we said we would think about it.
Once we knew we were out of contract we signed up with PlusNet, basically make or break, we were quite happy to go with them but we were not happy to keep paying Virgin prices. We made sure we said we wanted to transfer our landline number so they would have to contact Virgin.
The very next day Virgin got back to us and offered us the same deal for £19 a month (12 month contract), needless to say we were surprised and grabbed it with both hands, we simply cancelled PlusNet.
So if you want Virgin to react that may well be the way to go.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Was paying £30.44 for basic TV and 100 Mbps broadband plus £19 line rental.
Just called to try to add Line Rental Saver for £196 to save £32. The agent said LRS is no longer available for people who don't already have it - despite it being on their website and them having an option for it on their telephone menu.
Asked to be transferred to the cancellations team, as I don't use the phone line anyway (except to call VM when the BB goes down, as it frequently does).
The guy on the cancellations team tried to tell me I was getting a discounted rate, and cancelling the phone line would put the price up as I couldn't have the basic TV package and BB without line rental!
I had already checked the prices for new customers, and could see they were offering my package to new customers for £32 a month.
After a bit of haggling, I am keeping my existing package for £36 a month including line rental, and a £50 credit on my account.
Edit:-
Tip (probably said already by other people). Before haggling with VM, open a different browser, chose an address for one of your neighbours who doesn't use VM, and see what's available for new customers.0 -

What did the cancellations team say about the Line Rental Saver? - Is it definitely no longer available ?0
