Currently have Full House TV, Vivid 100 broadband and Talk Weekend phone costing £61.00 per month.

Have renewed all the above plus got all Sky Sports added for a total of £59.99 a month. 12 month deal. Happy with that. Virgin chap said that the deal would be £103 a month usually.

Quite happy with Virgin. Nice friendly chap on the line.

Was that offer from outbound retentions call?

I had been on VM 100Mb Broadband + Weekend Calls for £39/month (I know I've been overpaying!) but am now out of contract. Came through to inbound retentions and they've offered me 100Mb Broadband at £25/month for 12 months. Since I don't use my Virgin landline whatsoever this new price is for broadband only. They said if I'm wanting to keep the line the price is £5 more expensive (so £30).

    My concern:
At the end of 12 months, when the discounts are no longer available on my account, the cost of broadband only will jump hugely (since normally b'band alone is more than b'band + line). Then it could be difficult to negotiate any kind of sensible offer.

My advisor is calling me back next week as I said I needed some time to think about whether I'll stay or leave but just wondering if £25/month for 100Mb broadband only over 12 months is a decent deal? Realistically I'll have to stay with VM regardless as fibre is still not available in my area, but they don't need to know that haha.

    What do you guys think?

I finally got a call yesterday from outbound retentions and its only a couple of days before disconnection. I was almost resigning myself to ask for an extension for a couple of weeks and getting another provider.

I still had to do some haggling and they finally offered me for Fun TV, 100mb BB and Anytime Phone for £32.50 pm with paying for the line saver upfront @ £196 and £50 credit on the account.

This works out to be £44.66 per month with the line saver and I believe this will also avoid the price rise but will have to see.

I could have also had it for £27 PM if I dropped to mix tv but we like the discovery channels so went for the other one.

I was also surprised to be offered the line saver from what was mentioned on here and by inbound retentions and they said it not been stopped on their end, anyone can have it.

I am sure people are aware that Virgin are currently notifying existing customers of a price rise according to a thread on HUKD. It should offer many people a chance to renegotiate or leave contracts early.

Yep, anytime until 30th September. I've recently signed a new one, but putting my price up over 12% is asking for action. Just waiting for a tempting offer from another provider to use as a bargaining tool.
  • I have 200MB broadband and landline phone from Virgin. I told them I was happy with the service but not with the new price rise as it was the second in 12 months and I might need to cancel. Their broadband service in my area was also having intermittent faults that day too which I mentioned (in fairness a rare problem). Instead of a £3 a month increase from October I was offered an immediate £5 a month reduction which turns into £8 a month less than I would have paid from October. Ok I entered into a new 12 month contract but I’ll haggle again when that’s due up. I then spoke to their technical department as I was unhappy with the WiFi signal and they immediately offered an upgraded router. All round a success - Martiin’s advice works

I have a disconnection date, phoned up today to ask if they were willing to renegotiate to keep me as a customer, as I can have same channels with bt for £68 a month as opposed to the £97 I pay. They said they can offer me £99 a month haha, Told then no thanks and I will seek another provider

If you phone in you don't get through to the right team - those with the best deals are Outbound only unfortunately.
