Just put my cancellation in after 40 minutes of crappy CS insisting I was still in contract till Jan. Funny how when I told them I'd found the contract and would be happy to email it they discovered it was a mistake on the system.

Still the service is top notch. So hopefully they call back. Although I am getting sick of the terrible customer service so contemplating switching.

Poor experience with Virgin Media loyalty last week, who offered me a deal that would cost more than the standard customer pays.

My monthly price for TV M, phone, broadband, Sky Sports/Movies and BT Sports recently went up to £120/month. I called to cancel and was told it was because of the way the package had been originally structured, but if I changed to TV XL I'd get the same as I already have with more TV channels for £90/month. I continued to cancel as I thought the loyalty department would offer better when they called.

Three days later a very disinterested person in loyalty called me and said they could offer better deals - their offer was the same TV package as I have now for £95/month and would not budge even though I told them I had received a better standard offer over the phone (more channels, and for less) and that it seems my package has been structured inefficiently. Said that was the best they could do. So I told them to proceed with cancellation.

Do the loyalty team only phone once? If so, I'm going to start to make arrangements to get Sky instead to save some money.
  • I just called up and was offered

    Full house TV
    200 broadband
    weekend calls

Well that was quick. Call back today £22 for 200 meg BB.

Happy with that £1 less than I was paying last year. And the discounts run for 18 months.

My loyalty discount ends in a couple of days so I phoned this morning wanting a new discount or to cancel all services. I wasn't offered a price I was willing to pay or could afford so asked for the cancellation to go ahead. The customer service rep proceeded to tell me that it would cost £120 to have a BT line installed regardless of which company I chose and that this is hidden within the details. Please can you tell me who was right him or me? I have been quoted installation fees from free to £85, Never £120. Often this fee can be compensated for through topcashback.
I do have a BT line which hasn't been active for the 20 odd years I've been with cable services.

I ended up with 70 BB
    Player TV
    Anytime calls
for £39.49 on a 12 month contract which is what I wanted but it was a very frustrating phone call.
I'd like to know about the £120 comment though.

I have the same. No phone line besides an old BT one disconnected a good few years ago. Vodafone quoted me £60 to install a new line yesterday when I called them.

We had an old BT line that had not been used in 10 years since moving in - we paid £9.99 delivery and no activation fees for BT installation including fibre broadband. As it happens we cancelled after install and returned to Virgin as new customers (in my wife's name) getting £220 Cashback and a new customer offer.

Use the following new customer deal as leverage to get a better deal with cancellations.

    33982359.jpg

Also use code BRB745M to get £50 credit added to your account.

So that's the Player TV Bundle with V6 box, weekend calls and 100mb internet for an effective £15.50 per month.

Above offer is via Quidco Compare and thanks to HUKD users MajesticUnicorn and centrix for highlighting this offer.

    Good luck.
