Not where they used to be on what sort of time scale? 10years 100years 1000years 10000years?
I believe its been both hotter colder drier and wetter several times over in just the last 10millenium. Which point in this is your desired range of normal that we shoulkd aspire to maintain?Left is never right but I always am.0 -

Yes but how hot cold wet dry and windy do you think it should be all the time?
Is the period 1943 - 1949 (excluding the winter of 44) the 5 year average that we should look to normalise on or did you have some other period in mind?Left is never right but I always am.0 -

If a child misbehaves, you punish them when they do it, not ignore it.
Also, look at what they are pushing for, deportations and closing the borders. Half of these seem to think that voting out of Europe will somehow get rid of Muslims. What's next, Blackshirts patrolling the streets?
We are not remotely aligned politically but you must understand that the Left has a genuine tradition of opposing bigotry, both at the ballot box, in the courts and by using direct action on the streets.
17 and a half million people voted Leave on a platform of xenophobia. There are 48 million other people in the UK and many of us are not prepared to stand idly by while they warp our political and cultural life into some right wing dystopia.
!!!!!!
Are you proposing direct action on the streets ..
It was the majority that won ..0 -
Someone who does research. It was clear from his post that he is a bitter man, but I wanted to check why that was. He went to Australia where all the failures go.
Some nagging hunch is telling me that you are a leave voter. I can tell these things sometimes you see. Call it a gift if you will but I personally wouldn't go that far.
Am I right? I don't charge for this service.0 -
Well, I voted remain. No other sensible choice in Scotland. The EU is great for Scotland. But I am completely proud of the English and the Welsh, who for one rare moment have had some common sense and gone against the usual Scotland/London consensus.
The EU, and freedom of movement in particular, has been a disaster for white working class Brits. An absolute disaster. Zero hour contracts, wages being forced down left right and centre, demand for housing so high, due to those migrants that half of working class Britain, especially in England, can't even afford to buy a house. I'm SO glad, finally, the English have grown a set of b*lls and stood up to the Establishment.
As to no free trade agreement with the EU, the EU will have to pull their heads in sharpish. What will happen to the German car industry, who export 20% of their output to the UK, if the UK slap 20% customs duty on imports of their cars into the UK?
The EU as a whole sells more to us (£290 billion as per UK data, higher if looking at EU generated data) than we export to them (£220 billion). We run a huge trade deficit with Germany, upwards of £25 billion (source https://fullfact.org/europe/uk-eu-trade/) a year.
The UK will be alright. Our exports to the rest of the world have been growing, and to the EU declining, for years. If the EU screw us on a trade deal that will be there loss far more than ours.0 -

We live in a democracy. Sometimes you have to accept things that you may not like or agree with. Remember that Gruaniad readers don't get more than one vote each.
As a supporter of democracy, I support your right to peacefully demonstrate that you disagree with the majority view.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Decency and equality trumps the right of closet racists to justify their prejudice.
so what exactly is your attitude to immigration?0
