most brexiteers are closet racists/xenophobes, not that there's anything wrong with it but at least they should admit it

"i have nothing against immigration but..."

unemployment is the lowest in recent years, the uk economy one of the strongest among developed countries (how's that even possible if the EU is this awful "job-destroying machine"), immigrants come here because THERE ARE JOBS THAT NEED TO BE FILLED for god's sake. Non EU immigration that can be fully controlled has regularly been MORE THAN EU immigration.

The quickest way to "take back control" of immigration is wreck our economy. You'll see, once there are no jobs around immigrants will no longer come. Most brexiteers deep inside think it's a price worth paying, which is a legitimate choice, but at least stop pretending it's about "democracy, sovereignty, the NHS" and whatever BS the leave campaign comes up with.

Brexit is the modern equivalent of a declaration of war, entirely fuelled by nationalistic instincts. As long as the damage to the rest of Europe is more than what we're inflicting to ourselves, it's worth doing. Absolutely moronic.

Rubbish. This is just the usual desperate fall-back 'argument' put by the remainders. 'Most' Brexiteers are certainly nothing of the sort. They simply care about their country – its culture and extraordinary history – and about democracy, which took us so long to achieve (though history doesn't seem to be a strong point of the remainders), and which is now severely threatened.

I find it odd that some remainders appear to support racist, homophobic and misogynistic people who come here illegally, and who have no intention of adapting to our culture (unlike people of other cultures who have been here for centuries, like Jews, Indians, Chinese and various Europeans), even when this puts the whole country in danger, and resort to the standard name calling when this is pointed out to them. It's the same kind of blindness that affected the leftie deniers of Soviet communist atrocities during the Cold War, which resulted in the deaths of millions of people; the same kind of blindness that affected the German people vis a vis what their armed forces were doing to the defenceless populations of Eastern Europe and elsewhere during the Second World War; and the same kind of blindness that affects Holocaust deniers. I find it very strange that people can behave like this. Perhaps it is a 'tribal' thing – groups of people who get together and form a reality that they then believe? I'm sure a psychiatrist would be able to disentangle such a strange behavioural characteristic of modern humans.

    Vote Leave.

Assuming Jo Cox was shot by a Neo Nazi I can't help but feel that this puts the Brexit campaign a long way back. People don't want to feel like they're aligned with a bunch of violent skinheads.

looks like he had quite a few mental health issues rather than obscene Brexit beliefs... it wont help the campaign anyway even if this has nothing to do with it.

This issue is too big to get tied up in racist talk. I'm tired of being aligned to racists purely because of my brexit belief (two different entities entirely). Save the names for the playground...

If I started labelling you as scared, sheeple, gullible, unpatriotic, or just plain crazy (in the sense keep voting for the same system in the hope of a different outcome) purely beccause you didn't want to leave then that would be seen as unhelpful I'm sure! :)

Other points in your post are interesting though, thanks.

Its a hunch so no, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if bad news is coming after the vote if we stay in. Maybe something along the Turkey front or changes to contributions etc?

    This referendum is ridiculous.

I'm really worried that as this goes in I find myself thinking democracy is utterly stupid. Why ask people to vote on people they don't understand? Why does everyone have a right to vote in the first place?

If NASA were designing a new shuttle presumably they wouldnt ask me to vote on that design because i have no !!!!ing clue what's best. Sounds sensible to me.

TBH I don't think that the distinction matters in campaign terms. It depends what comes out of course but it certainly adds to the idea that there is a bit of a dark side to Brexitiers' motives (I'm not saying there is you understand but perception is all).

Valid points but the alternatives are worse

You might be tired of being aligned to racists but you don't seem to mind travelling on the same bus. The bus must be rammed full of democracy loving people saying things like 'I've got Turkish friends but..'. or 'Poland's a lovely country but...'

The remain camp has a few strange bedfellows too I suppose.

    1. Well 45% is quite a lot. Do you consider 45% of your income to be significant?

do try to understand the subject

    2. Yes of course non-EU countries can trade with the EU, but they do not trade on the same terms as EU countries (e.g. subject to tariffs). There is no European country which has access to the single market which does not also allow freedom of movement. Our economy is integrated into the single market. Realistically we will have to reach an agreement to remain in it.

    what is the average tariff?
what do you expect the pound to drop by
what do you expect the resultant price of exports in the EU to change by

    3. Given it's never happened, it's probably safe to assume it won't.

in your little world nothing ever happens for the first time?
