so no comment on your belief in unlimited and unrestricted immigration?
    no surprise there then

No Clapton. Because as you well know this vote has nothing to do with "unlimited and unrestricted immigration".

I appreciate that taking an isolated statement out of context than perpetually re-using it in artless tautology is about the the only tool you have in your extremely limited repertoire of debating tools.

But it got very old a long time ago.

you can give us a comprehensive explanation of your views on all the issues that the voters think are relevant

that could include the damage the EU has done to the ordinary people of the UK and to their world countries as well as the many positives.

I think the plan is to make the entire referendum process so massively tedious and boring that nobody could ever bear to go through it again.

I think that no matter what the outcome is next week, everyone can all agree that we don't want this to happen again. Preferably ever again. I can't think of a more divisive and unpleasant process that doesn't involve taking arms.

you voted to leave the EU several years ago.

the issues are real and your belittling them adds nothing to the democratic debate.

Nah, that's just a nice soundbite. In reality, a few years ago 99% of the population wouldn't have a clue which laws were EU or UK made. Our democracy is about the same as it ever was, the dailymail is just telling you how to think now.

Thank you for the informed response. :wall:

However, judging from your 'arguments' elsewhere, I'll desist from engaging in any kind of tit-for-tat with you.

    Immigration.

I have real concerns about this. The problem is if we have it running at the current rate or higher, with those people coming in not necessarily offering anything of value to the economy or society then we are building up a massive social problem which cannot be undone. We can't fix this later - once the problem is here it is with us forever. This is not like a bad political policy that the next party in can undo or repeal. Those coming to this country must bring skills which are needed and be able to speak English so to permit integration. The Australian points system is a good example for us.

Around the world, in Australia, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, the UK or the USA etc, job creation attracts migrants and migration fuels growth and job creation. On the other side, less welcoming Japan has been stuck with an ageing population and stagnant economy for decades.

if 'growth' is your only economic objective, then wouldn't it be better to show ALL the countries of the world and note their 'growth rate' and their immigration and see what the correlation is?

    This referendum is ridiculous.

I'm really worried that as this goes in I find myself thinking democracy is utterly stupid. Why ask people to vote on people they don't understand? Why does everyone have a right to vote in the first place?

If NASA were designing a new shuttle presumably they wouldnt ask me to vote on that design because i have no !!!!ing clue what's best. Sounds sensible to me.

Referendums get presented to the public in a way which tries to engineer a result.

To use your analogy, it's like gathering all the Shuttle scientists together in a room, and the newly graduated Project Manager then saying :

"okay, hands up, who wants a bigger rocket motor or who wants a smaller rocket motor?"

Everyone knows a complex problem can't be boiled down to a simple question...which is why engineers don't do it !

Assuming Jo Cox was shot by a Neo Nazi I can't help but feel that this puts the Brexit campaign a long way back. People don't want to feel like they're aligned with a bunch of violent skinheads.

    So true.

Plus those England fans in Marseille.

    Scum.
