    Officially you don't, but if you have a relative like one of ours who was unfortunately a bankrupt alcoholic who didn't even have enough money to pay for his funeral out of his estate, family members end up having to pay for that unless you walk away and let them have a paupers funeral.

    There's no 'officially you don't' about it.
    Your family members chose to pay for the funeral when there was an alternative option.
    That's not the same as debt.

    Pollycat, you're right of course, but when family are concerned, sometimes the moral argument forces itself into a situation and that's for every individual to decide where they stand.
