"Forensic accounting" - oh yes I know what you mean. Mostly when I look at my bank statement and just see a load of "Paypal... Paypal... Paypal..." I wish it would at least say "Paypal: Ebay" or "Paypal: ASOS" so you don't have to sit there cross-referencing. Honestly sometimes I look and just assume my Paypal has been hacked, but no, it usually works out that I've spent all the money :o

That's good news about the tax return, I'm going to have to do one for that Spanish class I had, which is another good reason for giving it up. I only made about £800 for the whole tax year, seems such a pain for so little.

Where are you going on holiday again? My advice is to not worry about doing something useful on the boat, but to take a book, have a glass of vino, and really relax this holiday, ready to come home motivated to tackling, well, everything you've got to tackle.

I actually had to delete my paypal account, it just made it too easy to spend without much thought :o

Agree with Tete and CMD, would use this holiday as a change to relax and recharge! You've got a lot on your plate at home, so take the time when you can and just be a little wine-drunk the whole time.

I would be very unhappy seeing a baby or a small child being shouted at. I think you can report to ofsted but not sure what they could do?

I agree relax on the journey and be ready to tackle things when you are back.

Hope everyone is out enjoying the beautiful weather. Can't beat a British summer, it's truly weather for ducks out there :( Went into town early doors this morning before work to get paint for the spare room (which I'm currently refusing to give a purpose to because it'll just mean spending £££ setting it up, and right now I'm focused on getting the bright pink off the walls) and I got well and truly soaked.

Our first mortgage payment went out yesterday, bank finally updated this morning so I guess interest will be added tomorrow? Nice to see the balance in the 123k area but I know it's not going to last. We also paid around £800 off our debts and saved £500 - plus £100 into Oscar's savings. It all sounds passively impressive but now we get to make little to no progress on things until the 1st of next month :o

It's miserable isn't it. The girls dad has been looking after them this week while I'm at work and gave up yesterday and took them to an event the council did and they got soaked.

Still good that you managed to pay lots off even if it will mean having a break for a while.

OUR HOUSE WILL BE FINISHED ON FRIDAY!!! :D:D:D

They're doing a builders clean afterwards, basically a very deep clean, which can't happen until Tuesday, but realistically we could be home by the end of next week.

Ferry gets into Newcastle Monday morning, plan is to drive down straight away to see the house. It's very unlikely the extension will be finished before we move in (needs plastering which we can afford someone to do as a more urgent job, and needs a floor buying and NIM to lay it, which is a nice to have but non urgent job and may have to wait a while).

Missed our July debt clearance goal, but paid off £1130.46 which is still no small chunk of change. Goal for August is probably to not get any deeper into debt, as my wages will be WAY down as I don't teach any private classes in August, and being on holiday means I don't get regular gym wages either.

And geek me has worked out the July clearance is around 62% of my average daily clearance when I cleared all the debt back when I met NIM... now there's a good goal - same rate of daily clearance?!

And no, the flurry of posts doesn't mean we're back, although definitely still very driven to sort things out, it means NIM took the kids to the play area for an hour so I could drink lemoncello, knock back painkillers and rue the God of period pain for bringing this monthly nightmare a week early and knackering my ability to take the kids swimming.
