  • Yep, also waiting for Sky email to sign up for the deal. Why tell everyone its going live from 10am and then not send the emails out?
  • Hi Leonardo,
Customer service stats were included on the MSE Broadband deal page, just got to click the 'Full Sky tips, call charges & customer service ratings' button on the Sky deal to expand the box.
Basically the results from the Jan 2016 MSE survey:
    - Home phone: 37% great, 47% ok, 19% poor
    - Broadband: 37% great, 34% ok, 29% poor

Re line faults, if there is no issue with your line currently then there shouldn't really be a problem when you switch.

I signed up for a similar deal 2 months ago and I got a voucher for this one too for new address via different bank account and email.

There will be a signup window of 6 days.

Sky were very efficient, service installed in 2 weeks flat and they did what they said they were going to do.

To be fair it was BT who did all the work, but if I had gone with Plusnet it would have been 4 weeks and a £49 install cost. Sky did it in 2 weeks and charged £20, so my outlay was £25 and they credited £100 to my account.

For this deal it will be £25 to sign up (£20 install and £5 to verify) I think £20 is if there is not an existing line.

Router is free postage £6.99 which is debited to account, you will have £50 credit so nothing to pay upfront.

Router arrive within a week so was ready when Engineer turned up. If you have a line the probably do not need to come to your home. BT send you SMS messages each time the Engineer farts or takes a breath (goes to exchange, opens up green box, is on his way to your house).

I do not use landline, not even got a phone plugged in to it as I have VoIP and Mobile, speak mostly on Whatsapp these days.

If you think this deal is too good to be true you should have seen the one last September

    £5 for the year!

TalkTalk seem to be more open to haggling because of this deal, so if you are with them call them to say you are leaving, some people get the £27 (free line rental, BB and Anytime calls) for the year deal if they are in right exchange. Basically with TalkTalk it is going to depend on whether they think they can upsell you to a TV ppackage later, if for any reason they can't because of your exchange they offer sheeeet.

Personally, I will never go with TalkTalk again, especially when they share your data every month without your permission (yes TT ICO and EU Data Commissioner will be in contact soon!!)

I would not hesitate to recommend Sky, never liked them as a TV co but so far all has been good.

I like their Scottish call centres, they answer quickly, are polite and you can understand them.

TalkTalk have 2 AWFUL call centres and one OK call centre, good one is in South Africa, Phillipines one are drones, they can say English words, read a script but do not understand English so they just read another script. It can slowly drive you nuts, especially if you have something serious to deal with like them charging you at RRP for a service you cancelled and then screwing up your credit record, then taking 2 months to fix it. TalkTalk Indian call centre is one of the rudest I have ever come across, read in the press that one of the companies they used in India stole customer data.

Some of these same Indian call centres have actually worked for the scammers (without realising it), they said they had a client who gave them a script and asked them to do outbound calling to a database they supplied.

There is some irony in there somewhere.

I am trying to figure out where Sky could go wrong, I am expecting them to increase price which will give me reason to end first contract I guess.

There was the warning on the deal that half price Broadband will be half of whatever price they increase it to.
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !

My link has just arrived. My contract with TT ended in January so I have been on a rolling contract 28 quid a month. Unfortunately I've been very ill and having a lot of hospital treatment. Looking at taking this deal as TT only offered me an 18 month contract when I rang them yesterday. My bill from TT arrives on the 18th of each month. Is there anything I should do to avoid TT taking extra money from me? Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks for any help.
  • Hi Fred, my understanding is that telephone and BB switching is now pretty similar to switching energy suppliers. As you're on a rolling contract (i.e. out of contract) that you just sign up with the new provider and your old provider will be notified of this. I'm sure at this point your old provider will contact you to check that this is correct but probably also try to retain you.

Depending on the existing suppliers exact T&C's for out of contract will determine what you have to pay them once the line has been switched over to the new supplier. I've never had TT so don't know what this might be.
  • My link has just arrived and the site seems incredibly slow and glitchy. I entered my details, confirmed the package, and then was just read about call costs/terms, when the page changed to

"Unable to continue with your order
    An error has occurred
Unfortunately, we have not been able to proceed with your order. To continue by phone, please call 0800 151 2758."

Now on hold... will update after call! Anyone else having this problem?

Assuming this works, I'm about to jump ship from Plusnet - worth it?

yes , broadband switching is controlled by your new supplier , you don't need to do anything

Have followed Martins tip for cheap broadband deal with Sky. When I get past the initial pages on he sky site it continues to move me to signing up for fibre broadband at a higher price and connection charges. Is this a con by sky ? 1st get you onto the site by a deal that they cant offer then automatically put a fibre broadband into your basket at checkout? Martin can you help or explain what they are up to or why it can offer fibre but not standard broadband ??
  • All now signed up with Sky, process was very easy. Just got to sit back and let the switch happen now.
