Got as far as submitting meter readings - then after a "think" the website failed with a 503 error. Have to wait and see if I get the readings confirmation email now....or try again tomorrow!!!

Managed to take a photo of my credit balance on both Gas & Elec a couple of days ago.

A neater way of doing this (if using a PC or tablet with with Windows) is to get the screen you want a copy of (best in full screen mode) then press Ctrl and Prt Scr together, then open a Word, Wordpad or Notepad document and then press Ctrl-V or select paste. The copy of the screen will then be pasted into the document. Press Return to go to the next line and then you are ready to paste the next captured screen. Remember to save the document of course! I hope that helps you and others in future.

OK so after much deliberation I've started the switch from Iresa to AVRO. For the first time ever I have not only looked at the price, but also the customer rating after being on hold for hours whenever I had a question for Iresa.
I am in credit (£70 Gas, £150 Leccy) so hope to get this back once the switch is made, about 2-3 weeks I think.

What is the procedure for refunds of credit? I'm guessing its automatic, but seen/heard some horror stories with Iresa.

    Matt

Hengus said 6 weeks (max); with readings validation up to 10 days.

I'm in the middle of meter readings validation which is taking longer than 10 days for me (perhaps my new supplier is dragging their feet).
** Question. Does anybody know if the meter read data is accessible? e.g. under Freedom of Info. I'd really like to know what info they hold about my gas meter.

Freedom of Information requests only apply to the Public Sector. You can make a Subject Access Request but you will be charged for the information. The 10 days is an average. Octopus are telling their customers that Final Billing can take anything from 8 weeks to 8 months!

The 6 weeks is based on the term !!!8216;reasonable efforts!!!8217;. Lawyers make £Ms arguing about what in contract terms is reasonable and what is unreasonable.

If your new supplier has opened your online account with a reading, then this normally means that the opening reading has been validated.

  • I reached the end of the line with Iresa last week. I had considered renewing up to that point (I hadn't contacted them since I joined and didn't realise how bad things had got). I had opened a support ticket about my options a month ago - no response.

I found out this month that my latest bills aren't available to download and the website is down more than it is up. New support tickets aren't answered and the length of the phone queues is ridiculous.

That made me go to a couple of comparison sites and look for another supplier, which came in as only a few pence more expensive. I've got less than two weeks left if things go to plan - although I'm £180 in credit according to their online billing so I may have a battle to get that back...

Until they have sorted out their problems (customer service and billing) I would have to recommend that others avoid them like the plague.

Read Trustpilot and Facebook: they can’t all be making it up. My guess is that Ofgem is fighting hard behind the scenes to keep Iresa afloat. As the Regulator, Ofgem cannot afford to let another supplier fail, given that serious problems with Iresa’s billing and customer service were brought to their attention well over a year ago.
