....and now they have used my 28th Dec. reading to update account charges -and the balance they have at 28/12 agrees with my calculations ....but still no movement on actual monthly bills. Last bill says to end of November, but only covers usage to end of October.0

Guess the bills won't be updated until next billing run which should be deferred until January. (By which time most peoples - fingers crossed - transactions/readings et al will be up-to-date AND correct...)0

....and as long as the large resultant bill (for 2 or possibly 3 months) doesn't trigger an obscene rise in DD requirement:)0 -

We left Iresa over a month ago but they are still taking the direct debit. We are currently around £300 in credit because of this.
I was thinking about cancelling the direct debit, but don't want to cause any problems with us breaking our agreement or affecting our credit rating, etc.
Has anyone else been in the same situation ?0 -
If you have left them then cancel the DD. If you 100% know you were in credit when you left then get the bank, via the DD guarantee, to claw back anything paid since you left. They should not be taking regular payments once you are no longer a customer.0

It was a tongue in cheek remark - BUT I wouldn't trust IRESA's programmers to look at balances , the way they have gone lately they might take 3 months usage as one and "adjust" accordingly:rotfl:0 -

If you are actually in credit and have left Iresa, you can ask your bank to refund the Direct Debit payment under the Direct Debit guarantee.
But first check that you are actually in credit based on your actual consumption and what has been charged for. Because your latest statement may not include all the charges. Therefore, you may not be in credit as much as you think.0 -

Wow! Were you really paying Iresa £300 pm when they supplied you? That's what I call a high user!
I was was led to believe that Iresa email customers every month before they collect each and every payment.
Isn't there anything on that email that indicates what to do if you have any issue with the intended collection???
I guess anyone that did find themselves in the same situation would read that and act accordingly :cool:0 -

No, not £300 per month, that is the amount of credit that has built up over time.
Yes, they do. The e-mail says if there is an issue to telephone or e-mail them. I've tried telephoning them only to be told I was caller 95 in the queue, and I gave up after an hours wait and not moving further up the queue. I've e-mailed them several times and opened tickets on their website but they do not respond.
I will take the advise of the other replies and go along the direct debit route to claim back the amount that is owed.
