...I will take the advise of the other replies....

    Yeah, that's a good idea.
I think MSE Martin calls it confirmational acknowledgement or something.
i.e. Choosing the replies that accord with what you want to hear/be told.

I'm not sure what surprises me most. The fact that Iresa are answering any calls today, the fact that 95 people are already holding on, or the fact you even thought they would be working today. Not only is it Sunday (and they usually only open Mon-Fri) but it's also New Years Eve.

Do enjoy this festive period...it only comes but once a year.

We left Iresa over a month ago but they are still taking the direct debit. We are currently around £300 in credit because of this.

I was thinking about cancelling the direct debit, but don't want to cause any problems with us breaking our agreement or affecting our credit rating, etc.

Has anyone else been in the same situation ?

We left them on the 5th October and give or take a £ or so we were (and still are!) around £170 in credit. They e-mailed me mid October to say that they were going to take another dd payment so I cancelled their mandate with my bank and told Iresa via their website that I had done so. Got an e-mail back within two hours acknowledging that the dd was cancelled and confirming that they would not attempt to take any further payments.

They still e-mail me every month asking for meter readings though!

Thank you - That definitely seems to be the way to go them. I will get the direct debit cancelled.

If it is 3 months and waiting to get your money back that isn't good at all. Are they just ignoring your tickets ??

Yes and I'm bloody annoyed about it. I have repeatedly asked for a final bill and repayment finally giving them a deadline of 22nd December to do so. The only response I have had from them is an email in early December claiming that the new supplier has not given them the final reading. The new supplier has confirmed in writing that they have done so and have been billing me based on those final/start readings since taking over so frankly I think that Iresa are just trying to fob me off. From my experience in a lifetime in industry unfortunately this is typically the sort of behaviour of a company that is about to go bust.

Action will be taken after the holidays.

It was a tongue in cheek remark - BUT I wouldn't trust IRESA's programmers to look at balances , the way they have gone lately they might take 3 months usage as one and "adjust" accordingly:rotfl:
Programmers? the only programmer there is the MD who started the company. :rotfl: The only problem is he doesn't seem to be a very good one (to put it politely) otherwise he'd have sorted it out 12 months ago when they were unknown and before MSE recommended them to us (admittedly with an "unknown if any good" proviso).

PS. the best (only?) way I've been able to contact Iresa is with a DM on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/IresaEnergy/
Back in on Tuesday (unless the Twitter support person is on holiday).

Anticipating issues with billing when I left IRESA last August I cancelled my Direct Debit in July thus ensuring that I owed them money. It's now January 2018 & I still haven't received a final bill for the £110 that they are due.
  • If you cancel the DD there is a chance that Iresa might still try to claim a monthly payment even though its not justified . This might give a negative credit score.

I had a similar problem with EoN a few years ago and they eventually agreed to ensure that my credit report status was put right and also they met the cost of an Experian report to confirm the same. To be fair to EoN, once they realised they were in error it only needed gentle encouragement on my part to get things sorted and resolved.

Iresa do not report to the CRAs whereas E.On do so a big difference in the possible outcomes.

Has anyone had their payments with Iresa reviewed or surplus balance refunded? I have been with them for almost a year now and built up a credit balance of over £125 as my bills seem to be about £5-10 or so less than the monthly payment each month. Not the end of the world as I am getting interest paid each month at a rate comparable with many savings accounts so thinking I could just leave it as it is. Just mainly curious to know if anyone has had Iresa review it or if you called them to do so?

A big chunk of that credit should be your winter surplus, which will still have two or three months to go. If there's still a lot there after the March bill, that would be the time to start pushing for a refund.
