How much did you pay to Iresa? How much did you get back from Iresa?

Regarding MSE emails change settings at
    https://clubs.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub/account/edit
EG under monitoring information set "When should we tell you that there's a cheaper tariff?" to "When I save more than £250".

    Or leave the club
    https://clubs.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub/account/delete

MSE just present information that is provided by MoneySuperMarket. Did you read the MSE Customer Service Rating:? For Iresa (not currently available for new customers)
    1. the number of votes was very low - a warning sign on its own and
    2. the few votes that there were indicated that not all was rosey

Thanks for the link, have deleted.

I did read this yes, but I use MSE, like many people do, because I assume (obviously have made an as$ of myself in this instance) there a level of journalistic diligence has been done before products are presented to customers.

I'm a little disappointed MSE/MSM is happy to use consumers as test bunnies to see whether or not businesses like this are kosher.

I now have to spend time chasing up Iresa for money owed (probably with the Energy Ombudsman's help at this point) because of the visibility that company gained from this website.

As long as Iresa has paid MSE though I suppose that's all that matters...

A GAS reading from 6th June is now showing on my account. I say 'A' gas reading because it is NOT the one I supplied!! It is 16 units out in Iresa's favour. I think I'll let that ride though as that works out better for me. Idiots.

All meter readings provided by a customer to a losing supplier on switch are ignored in accordance with industry procedures. The gaining supplier manages the transfer and this includes asking you for an opening reading which is then validated by an independent industry third-party before being passed back to the two suppliers to open and close your accounts.

I suspected that Hengus. But the meter reading on my Iresa account doesn't match the one I gave them or the one I gave to E.ON.

...have they agreed to refund any overpayments?

The reading has been adjusted by the data collectors based on the years of historical usage data that they hold for your property. I know that this can be annoying when an accurate meter reading has been supplied of the day of the transfer but sadly:

    1. People mis-read meters.

    2. Some people do not bother to send in a reading.

    3. the transfer does not go through on the date that you were given.

    4. Some people just lie because they can make a few pence by doing so.

I had a delayed transfer a couple of years ago and the estimated reading was 200+CM3s out in the old supplier's favour. It took me over 5 months to reach the opening reading.

I should add that 7 weeks after the date of the actual transfer my Iresa account has yet to show the industry-verified meter reading. I have reported Iresa to Ofgem for breaching SLC27.17 - Final Bills.

    Hi Adamh87

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some problems with Iresa. I can understand this must be frustrating.

However, just on your point above, I'd like to clarify that MSE hasn't ever received any payments from Iresa. Rather Cheap Energy Club aims to offer a full market comparison in line with Ofgem recommendations. Where we can't help you switch (and therefore don't receive a switching fee), we link you direct to the providers site.

In the case of Iresa, we actually had an additional warning on its tariffs:
Iresa!is a new supplier and much cheaper than most other firms on average. It says its systems help it make substantial savings, but we do have questions over the sustainability of this model.

I appreciate this doesn't help with the problems mentioned, but I thought worth clarifying those points. As per the other guidance on the thread, if you're unable to get an outcome from Iresa, do escalate this to the Energy Ombudsman.

Not yet Dave. Still not issued me with a final bills - and they're still taking DD payments and asking for meter reading.

Fair enough, but Iresa was listed on MSE as a Top Pick for a while. What criteria does MSE CEC use when determining which tariffs are Top Picks?
