Just catching up reading. Really tired long drive home yesterday combined with mess at home, spent hrs just trying to make one room habitable as have gs after work today.
Had a lovely break, thanks to bruv and sister in law who didn't let me pay for anything. Such nice people. I then went to my wee gig and was a proper groupie pic with the singer and a signed cd, So happy toured around the Cotswolds, saw Michael Eavis and setting up the fences for Glasto, what an amazing lot of organisation it must take site so massive.
Now the bad news today I have sat down and worked out last month or so been seriously overspending, car repairs, new passport plus house repairs I am having done at moment my total debt (increased jobs than I was originally having done) Gulp really don't want to say this at all - but better to come clean, hide all my cards and get back on track.
My total debt now stands at 4465.10 and my EF stands at 10 pounds
Confident that I can clear at least 600 pounds of this in next 3 weeks. Going to try my hardest to clear it by xmas still but think it may be a tall order
No point shouting and screaming at myself, to be honest money well spent, not sure about gorgeous sandals/dress but my whole of my downstairs of the house is now like new and my hall/ landing looks gorgeous(hopefully they finish work there today), I have a ceiling now just need to paint woodwork on the stairs but it will do for now.
Good news - daughters test results came back and baby is fine. Such a relief. Now the baby name discussion has started, sex unknown like the surprise element.
Today starting afresh in my debt busting challenge and yeh I have a SFD.

Thrifty- re reducing the mortgage, we were paying 1500 pcm, as the usual 700 came from the joint account, plus the extra 800 pcm that I was earning as I upped my days at work. However... at the start of Feb, dh was made redundant after just over 2 years with the company. So, not a great package. But we have eked it out well. I cut back to paying 400 to the mortgage + 400 to an EF (which is now very healthy so all 'spare' can now go to the mortgage) and we cut the other payment to just 50. At 450 pcm we will have it paid off by the end of the term, but we both want it gone before that! Every extra 450 = 1 month earlier finish.
My extra days stop at the end of June, so so does the extra money. But the work/life balance should be restored, which is a priceless bonus.
Sorry for the waffle! It is so important to me to get it paid off, so dh won't have to have a stressy job and that millstone will be gone for ever!
Acquiring the NSDs has simply been a case of go-to-work-then-go-home. I am still recovering from all my poorliness and have had no inclination to go to any shops.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

I'm still away with work until late tomorrow night and have clocked up another NSD putting me on 3. I just need to avoid stopping for a snack on the 5 hour drive home tomorrow.
I rang DH tonight and he says he feels like he is on holiday living in our new house and was out walking DS and the dog in the woodland across the road when this evening. Bliss.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Good morning!
apple muncher fantastic effort. Hopefully once the kids are over the worst in terms of childcare and OH is a bit more on board we can start overpaying too but probably not to such extend. But every little helps.
Last night after the kids were fed, OH sat down to watch the football. So I left the kids with him and went outside to paint the carport front panel and a wooden panel on my neighbours garage facing our garden. Another thing ticked of the to do list (although a second coat is needed). When I came back OH looked slightly harassed and I don't think he managed to see any of the football apart from the last few minutes after I came back
Today will be a spend day. Wanted to hold out till tomorrow but DS must be having a growth spurt as he is constantly eating. The bread and fruit basket are empty and the fridge looks bare. So shopping it is.
Last night I was thinking about our debt and savings targets and how to approach them best. There is stuff we need to do this year (front door, garden while the kids can use it) and save for (trip to my parents next year). I think I will play with the numbers today and see how best to deal with it and rejig my current approach. Ideally I would like to pay the CC off first but even that would take 3 months alone and we would't have any money for anything else. Oh and there is christmas and the car pot to save for. MMhhh.. I wish OH were on board more, anyway.....DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Reporting in here after being awol - have lost track of NSDs (not many - 5?) and am not keeping up with anything with work and a festival I help to organise starting soon and a charity I'm treasurer/ trustee for having an event in 2 weeks (eek!) and the usual keeping up with what the 4 kids are doing and thinking about our holiday in 3 weeks! Energy levels are poor and diet is abysmal - both are linked, I know. Overwhelmedness is still there - a good start was made and then came to a standstill
OH has been without a contract since end of Jan and that is adding pressure to everything. SO very glad we managed to pay off the mtge last year!
Oooh - good bit of news - DD (18) has got a part time job in the run up to uni in a local (large chain) store - 8 hour contract but is working 18+ hours a week. They want her back over Xmas, too - which is great! And I have some extra hours at work in the holidays on results days
I must do better..... am very glad the exam season is almost over

I have been thinking I need to be a bit more pro-active about my clothes. I failed to buy anything last month when I went for a second look at some things I had seen the month before. I remembered that next town up (4 miles) has seconds shop (we had a branch in our town but it closed down) and have tried to include it a couple of times when I had a bus ticket.
So went to do my civic duty then to local history meeting. I have booked another free Indian head massage for next week as I really need to get the painting finished and my neck, back and shoulders already ache. Took 2 l water (added lemon juice and left in the freezer for two hours) and a sandwich with me, plus a book to read as I thought I might carry on to big town (8 miles) to check out the BHS sale for basics (T-shirts, cardis, leggings).
Well the seconds shop has gone over to lots of household stuff (cushions/ plaques/ tiny birdcages) and impractical shoes. They had some pretty but insubstantial floaty tops, not cheap, all 'one size'. Found a bench and ate my lunch then visited a couple of charity shops. First one had not much of interest but they were short of change so I found them £5 of mixed silver and £5 in pound coins.
Second shop I spent £25.07 for which I replaced my 3 long sleeve T-shirts (all relegated to painting clothes), bought a summer cardi and three pairs of trainers (one pair has a tick on it) for £3.99 a pair. None of them has any wear on the soles. So filled a few gaps in my wardrobe for a lot less than I had hoped for. Went back home for a rest.
Ordered a repeat prescription and asked for the form for a blood test (to check how the Vit d is doing). I have a small list of admin frogs and have been checking them off this week.
Went out again to get wheels to go on the bottom of the big wardrobe (also on the to do list - possibly this weekend). Noticed they had my shampoo on offer and added that as the bottle is nearly empty. Actually mum's birthday is coming up and I usually stock up on her favourite toiletries when they are on offer, saw the display and thought it was her shower gel - only noticed it was my shampoo when I got near to the shelf.
I was going to go to the SM but my feet won't co-operate. had to sit down before I could come back to the house. Some very enjoyable people watching - young male shopkeepers berating the traffic warden. They aren't allowed to come into the pedestrianised bit between 9 am and 5 pm - just because it's after 5 pm doesn't mean they can ignore the other restrictions.
Came home and cooked the YS burgers I had taken out to defrost first thing.
Today I am grateful for charity shop bargains, eating from my freezer and lovely sunshine (as long as I don't stay out in it too long). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
