The EU: IN or OUT?

I actually gave a great deal of thought to my decision to vote Leave and feel it would be extremely arrogant to assume that those voting Remain, did not.
This will be my last post on this thread and I would like to make one final point. People who voted Leave come from 'all' social classes and age groups. Many are highly educated people with valid reasons for arriving at their decision. This can also be said of those who voted Remain. The issues are complex and I would not assume that I understand them all - but do not profess to do so.
A very sane post. I find it really annoying how so many remainers are now saying leavers have changed their minds, and regret the decision they made. I can't say I have heard any regrets. One chap at work said today he should have voted leave but one sample tells you nothing. As you say, both groups views should be respected. I am quite able to beleive that leaving might be a mistake, but I took the view that leave was on balance the right choice. We shall see.0 -
Not sure what the point you're trying to make is?
I've been saying that the money we no longer sent to the EU should be spent on those things. It doesn't meant that it will be...
Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and anyone who campaigned for Leave might have had their opinions on how things could/should change if we left the EU but no-one had the power to pledge, promise or guarantee anything. I think you'll find that all of their language will have reflected this.
The has said that it should be spent there but also that it was a bad mistake to say that it would be spent there. If he's so sure that it should be spent in those areas why is it such a bad thing to say that it would?
He is talking like a politician despite claiming not to be one. He's an ordinary bloke like the rest of us. Enjoys a pint and a fag.0 -

I have edited my post which was written in disgust at the post to which I was replying.Do I gather you agree with the sentiments expressed by maxie104 ?
Germany is a friend and ally of the UK and there is no place,in my view, for nationalistic rantings about a war where wounds been healed and a lasting peace established ( one of the many reasons I voted in)
I'm sure many out voters are as dismayed as I am at the increase since Friday's result in nationalistic, racist language, both on the streets and on social media.0 -

Whatever you may feel, is there any necessity to tell a forum member to 'eff off'? I don't think so and that's why I thanked MOL's post and not because I agreed with any other sentiments originally expressed.0 -
I keep seeing intolerant FB posts from remainers criticising leavers for their intolerance.
In response to many of my own contributions to online discussions ive been subject to a string of online abuse in other forums. Mainly from people who are no doubt eager to promote tolerance when it suits them.
Racism is totally wrong on any level and that includes referring to English people as thick, little Englanders or knuckle draggers.0 -

You might want to read the language in the post to which I was replying0 -

I'm not so sure, it's always been simmering just under the surface. With what they now perceive as more than half the country behind them it's hardly a surprise the xenophobes have broken cover.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -

I do wonder to what extent xenophobes have 'broken cover' or sensitivities are also raised (on both sides), im certainly sick of sing people labelled racist, xenophobe, little Englander or thick for having an opinion on the referendum or immigration that doesn't fit the mould of a remain voter.
As time pans out what has really changed or is it just being reported more?
It was stated on the news last night that neither the Met or Greater Manchester police have seen any increase in reported race hate crime since Friday.0 -

The Polish Centre in Hammersmith was daubed with xenophobic graffiti
Sunday morning.

Just a coincidence ?0 -

One thing for sure is those who voted out won't be seeing anything much change for the better in their own lives unless the above is what it was all really about and the costs be damned.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0
