It worries me that they now feel they have licence to say these things

Farage is just a national embarrasment. Just like the England football team, just like the UK government, just like the opposition. As per the latest meme going round FB - "Even Baldrick had a plan!"

The whole country is an embarrasment. I

What I find equally embarrassing is the way in which the country seems to have split into 2 camps. The remain camp seems to feel that they are intellectually superior to those who voted out.
I actually gave a great deal of thought to my decision to vote Leave and feel it would be extremely arrogant to assume that those voting Remain, did not.
This will be my last post on this thread and I would like to make one final point. People who voted Leave come from 'all' social classes and age groups. Many are highly educated people with valid reasons for arriving at their decision. This can also be said of those who voted Remain. The issues are complex and I would not assume that I understand them all - but do not profess to do so.
  • Seeing the photos of the Remainers protesting in Parliament Square, I just googled images of ANTI-EU protests around Europe.

Oodles of them obviously. And hard to tell which is which.

    Weird times.

    Just saying

What a wise and sensible post and how refreshing to find someone who doesn't just hurl insults at the folks on here with a different viewpoint to their own. If I were easily offended (and I'm not, thankfully) I would be very hurt at some of the completely uncalled for insults from posters who think that just because they have a different viewpoint that makes them right and that everyone else must be totally moronic to have voted differently.

It also smacks a lot of sour grapes ( with a little bit of a temper tantrum thrown in ;) ) and a marked superiority complex to assume that anyone with a differing opinion must be of a lower intelligence.
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

Once again he NEVER said we would put all that money in the NHS.He went out of his way on that ITV debate show to explain to the ill-informed that If were out of the EU we would not be sending everyweek that money to Brussels !

What he clearly says here is that the £10bn should be spent on Schools, Hospitals & GPs.

    .

I'm afraid I've found the constant undermining of posters who voted Leave to be quite tribal. Labelling them as 'stupid' and telling them to 'eff off' is quite astonishing. I rest my case.

I do agree but it's not a one way street. I've seen some very insulting Facebook posts telling me that I was unpatriotic for voting to remain. The reason that I voted to remain is because I think that it was by far the better option for the country.

I've seen Facebook posts celebrating the notion that we will soon be able to buy carrots by the pound and unusually shaped cucumbers. Has it really come to that? We have uncertainty about jobs in many sectors (cars and finance to name but two) but everything will be okay because I will soon be able to buy a pound of sprouts.

As I see it (and I freely admit that this is only my opinion and I could be completely wrong) we will have to accept free movement of EU citizens as part of a trade deal. We will also have to pay into the EU. We won't have a say in any future EU laws but will have to abide by the majority of them. We won't have a veto to stop Turkey joining. I don't personally think that Turkey will join in the near future although the Vote Leave campaign think that it will happen 'soon' according to the leaflet that came through my door.

Anyway, the votes have been counted and we will leave the EU. Many of my friends voted to leave and that's their choice. I'm not going to fall out with anyone just because we disagree on this.

Not sure what the point you're trying to make is?

I've been saying that the money we no longer sent to the EU should be spent on those things. It doesn't meant that it will be...

Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and anyone who campaigned for Leave might have had their opinions on how things could/should change if we left the EU but no-one had the power to pledge, promise or guarantee anything. I think you'll find that all of their language will have reflected this.
  • that the net import is in favor of the EU...

and, as the UK automotive industry is virtually all foreign owned, they could easily move production to another EU country for all EU sales ....
I cannot believe how people do not see it... I do not expect all readers to be business savvy, but it should be clear to most what business could and would do in that scenario.

My understanding is that the UK imports more from the EU than the EU imports from the UK by absolute financial value. If tariffs are introduced and the import quantities go down in proportion then overall the UK benefits as the balance of payments improves. If tariffs are not introduced then the status quo stands. (Some assumptions in there I know but reasonable as a first pass.)

So what you mean by "net import is in favour of the EU" is still unclear.

Have you ever tried to move a factory or a production line. I have, though a much smaller one than a car production line. It is not easy. The idea that Nissan and the like can just abandon their existing investment in the UK is laughable. It is not just moving the robots, a hard enough process in itself - it is also moving the skills of the people. In 30 years time, the Nissan plant could have closed but it will still be going well in 10 years. Between 10 and 30 could be a decline but cars themselves could be in decline in that time frame.

Most big companies have spent the last 20 years trying to move out of France to escape its employment laws. They are not going to be keen to go back.

I cannot believe that you feel the need to be so superior and to belittle other peoples experience and views without at least giving us some idea why you think you know better especially when your statements are so unclear and so unrealistic.
