The EU: IN or OUT?

  • True, but we know what being in the EU is like now, and that's certainly something I wouldn't go head first into if we weren't already a part of it.

But the point is, you can't know this. Had we never joined, the country may have been in such a state whereby joining the EU looked attractive, much like it does to some countries who want to join now. Note that I'm not saying it would have been, just that it could have been. Plus no country joining the EU now could join under the terms the UK has. The question is moot.

The real problem with leaving the EU is that we will still be stuck with our own incompetent MPs (from all parties) who will still manage to screw things up

But are you implying that an extra layer of incompetent MPs above our own incompetent MPs assisted by an executive that has an agenda different to many/most of the people of the UK is in any way an improvement?

At least our lot should have our interests at heart and we can change them if they get too uppity and self-interested.The EU Parliament represents a huge range of interests, some very different and maybe inimicable to our own and we can only change a small fraction of MEPs if we get fed up with them.

Finally someone with a reasonable point of view, my opinion is the same as yours, not happy with the current system so i am happy to see what comes out of it with a leave vote, be it better or worse. Never know until we try

Ow, my toe hurts! I will cut my leg off. It may be better or worse never know until you try.....

Dont forget, if we leave we cannot come back (under the current advantageous terms)
If we stay, and we do not like soething in the future, we can still leave. The government can do it, with or without referendum.

But I am confident that, even if the UK leaves the EU, migration will continue to make life in the UK ever more colourful

I agree with you, migration will continue in the future BUT with Skilled people and people who don't have criminal records

Cameron and Osborne want to stay in because they are no longer in office they can get a cushy job with the EU, just like some of their predecessors.

    Rubbish.

I cannot beieve that someone who I think believes that they are intelligent and who says they have two homes and has done well, reduces this extremely important decision to "voting against Nigel whatever he proposed".

    Jeff

You misunderstand, i have no vote. So that was just my extreme dislike of Farage. He makes my skin crawl. Dont have anything in particular against the rest of the leave team.

One of my homes is in France, so leave could affect us. And that wa a low blow on the home thing, I am sure most if not all MEPs have 2.

I do not believe you know that. Anything said while the referendum is underway is likely either to be intended to frighten us or assuage our fears (genuinely or otherwise). Nothing said now by either side or by any foreign government is likely to mean anything in 5 years time.

It seems possible that we do not like it now. So why not leave now? Why wait for a government of the future to do it? Why would we trust a government of the future to reflect the people's views anymore than the present one seems to? (The government appears to be 90/10 in favour of remain - the people are not whatever the final figures come out like.)

OUT. No more immigrants and no more EU burdens, lets be free, make our own trade deals for our benfit and prosper. Being such a large consumer of everything gives us negotiating power

Who promised no more immigrants? Even Leave says we need immigration?

What do you propose to do with the existing immigrants? Make them walk the plank?
