  • Hi, I'm also new to this stuff, but have been lurking for a while. I am looking for a Audi A4 Avant, Diesel, manual, 130 min BHP, mileage 90k-120k, plate about 05ish. What would one of those go for? I have auction view, but don't get any price info. Any help would be great
    Cheers!

I don't know about prices unfortunately (I'm sure Wig or Happy Chappy will sort you out) but I did read the other day that fleets are expected to be 'dumping' a load of A4s, amongst other similar marques, in coming weeks and that prices are expected to fall as a result.

If that is rubbish then I've no problems with people telling me I'm wrong
  • Thank you very much for that. Do you know if I would be able to put in a commission bid as I don't know if I can attend in person? Sorry to be a pain if you have already answered this.

Wig, wondering if you can do the same for me for next Wednesday and Thursday only...2005/6 BMW 318/320 petrol and diesel, manuals, under 50k miles and the same for the 520/525 BMW up to 60k.

North west, west and east midlands.

    Many thanks, P
  • Yes you can do commision bids. Althought the aucioneer normally uses the comission bid as a starting point.

Wig, many thanks for that....I will go through with the old fine comb and weed out suitables...!!! A few more queries.....they have listed guide values beside them, can you say from experience...(ball park figures) ......what the cars may sell for on the day?

I see BCA figures...how accurate or believable are they?

At Bruntingthorpe they ask for a £1000 deposit...how does this work, assume you get it back if you dont buy????

    Thanks again, P

    Prices
The number in the 1st column is the avg sold price recently @ the mileage given in the 2nd column, the greater the sample size (the number in the 3rd column) the more accurate it is going to be. You should compare the mileage of the 2nd column to the mileage of the Lot it is associated with.

    If they are similar
The avg price (column 1) is going to be all the more relevant to you.

    If they are not similar
You should look at CAP cln, the bid is VERY likely to be CAP cln, but you should look at other lots which are being sold with mileages that ARE similar to the mileage given in their column 2, then compare that lot's column 1 with that lot's CAP cln value, this will tell you if the model is currently selling below or above the CAP cln price. You can then use that knowledge to make a guess if you will get the lot you are interested in at below CAP cln or not.

Prices are pretty accurate if read and interpreted in this way.

    Deposit
If you have a debit/credit card with funds in the account (or cash) you pay your deposit *after* you are winning bidder - at the rostrum.

You will only get your deposit back if the car is misdescribed in some major way or the mileage is warranted and proven to be innaccurate. By the time you have worked this out you will have paid the full balance anyway, so it would be a case of reclaiming the full purchase price not just the deposit.
