  • Certainly a happy new year for Octopus Go customers whose tariffs are renewing at existing peak rate which from these two different examples  just over 13pkwh, many of whom also have apparent wisdom to be on cheapest gas tariff for the winter months :)

Octopus always said they had hedged the 'Go' tariffs but that is certainly more generous that I would have expected in current circumstances.

Sorry to start New Year worrying about bill....but since moving to Octopus via Avro I have never actually had a Octopus generated bill.  Had the Avro bill for the couple weeks in September which is £24 but I have not paid it as my credit is more.  Plus the way it read it was up to you whether you did or not.

    So my questions are

Have many of you cleared the Avro amount.

Have any of you had an Octopus bill

Lastly do they generate bill after they request meter reading....if so it didn't happen for me.

Octopus usually only generate bills after you submit a meter reading

I've had my AVRO final bill and a bill from Octopus to the end of November that cost me £100 from 26/9 to 30 /10/21. I still have a credit of £150 plus I gave them readings for electric and gas yesterday which if I have worked out correctly will only be around £1.20 more than my monthly DD of £48.
Someone please tell me what money is

So far, disappointed with the 'winter workout'. Octopus originally set my 'estimate' for the 12 weeks from (I think) 8 December at 5874 kWh. They have now revised it to 5702 kWh. That could well be justified because December was unusually mild, but it would be nice to know how they are doing the recalculation. They say it is based 'on the weather and other factors'. Nationally, month by month? Or regionally, day by day?  And what 'other factors'?
They also tell me that 'so far' I have used 1319 kWh compared with a 1342 kWh estimate. They don't tell me up to what date. And these figures bear no relation that I can see to the meter readings I gave them on 17 and 30 December. The 30 December readings triggered a (correct) balance update for electricity, but no balance update for gas, and (so far) no bill.
The purple ring supposedly showing how I'm doing seems to me not thought through. I could get to a complete ring on (say) 26 January, but then slip back in February if I have visitors who like long hot showers. And I could get to more than a complete ring: how is that going to be displayed? A spiral?

My account is still showing as zero with no activity. I have submitted start meter readings and another reading in December which haven’t triggered a bill.
Octopus tell me it is because they are still waiting on a final Avro bill, and there’s nothing they can do to speed that process up. I cancelled my Avro direct debit due to the lack of movement and have yet to set a new Octopus one up - will do so when o know what’s happening.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It shows progress towards the target, so once you have saved more than your target savings it will show a full circle and stay there unless your savings slip behind the target at a later date.
There is no reason to show 'more than 100%' in any way.
